nathanvc (4147) - Gent, BELGIUM - MAR 17, 2019UPDATED: MAR 17, 2019 23 February 2019. (Tasting formerly known as) RBBWG. Cheers to all, thanks Kraddel for the hospitality!
Cloudy black with a lasting, very thin, dark beige head. Deep aroma of vanilla, custard, cream, mocha, brownie, praliné, hazelnut paste, faint soy sauce, candied plum, fig, bourbon. Taste is medium malty sweet, quite chocolatey with a bit of a 'powdery' effect, touch of hazelnut paste too; only subtly balanced by a light roasted bitterness that has mocha, (roasted) nuts, pepper & cinnamon; fruity notes of dried fig & raisin & slightest touch of umami soy in the back. Dryish, peppery hoppy finish, lingering vanilla, chocolate, and the expected warming dash of bourbon alcohol. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. More 'drinkable' than expected, softer than the DeCicco Version I had next to it, but still lots of flavours to enjoy of course.

Pitch black colour. Mild aroma: chocolate, marzipan, rubber. The flavour is also marzipan chocolate, a bit artificial, some vanilla, the bourbon seems to have become something else, moderate sweetness. Very phenolic. Rather chaotic.
