EerieDrinks (1194) - Malm, SWEDEN - MAY 24, 2020
UPDATED: MAY 24, 2020 3 finger beige head. Very light lacing. Pitch black beer. Aroma of rum soaked slightly tart raisins, fig jam, woody backbone, milk chocolate, marzipan and a hint of almonds. Taste of tart fig jam, overripe mushy cherries, sour oak, ashy notes, clear boozey whisky, milk chocolate, toffee and burnt brown sugar. Mouthfeel is semi-thick and lightly oily. Sticky. Medium bitterness. Low to medium-carbonation. Bit too short finish. Lightly dry. Overall: Maybe I aged this for too long because even though it's good, it has some musty, overripe & tart tones that I don't recognize from the style. Especially if this is supposed to be some sort of pastry impy. It has a belgian feel to it. Good beer either way and maybe it's a good thing that it didn't turn out to be some sort of sugary lactosemonster.

UPDATED: JAN 16, 2020 Bottle. It poured a black color with a tan head. The aroma was of fudge, toffee, dark chocolate and molasses. The taste was similar to the aroma with more fudge, toffee, dark chocolate, molasses, black licorice, alcohol with medium carbonation and a nice chewy aftertaste. Good stuff.

the_beergery (924) - - JAN 1, 2020
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2020 Bomber of 1 pint 6 oz. Bottled in June 2017, so it's been aged 2.5 years in my fridge. Not sure how beneficial it has been since, the expected deep, rich chocolate and fudge and caramel seem to have been worn off by the passage of time! Appearance is a dark brown black topped with a little tan froth which disappears promptly. Aroma is dominated by charred roast malt, some chocolate, and dried dark fruits with a hint of booze, like bourbon (although it has not been aged in bourbon barrels). Taste is sweet, with a hint of licorice bitter. Charred malt notes, a little chocolate, plenty of dried dark fruits. Body was initially a medium, too thin for a stout like this, but gradually became full bodied and oily as it warms. Very smooth, no trace of that 12% ABV at all.

UPDATED: DEC 25, 2019 Bottle shared at Cotteridge Convention 2017. Cheers! Pours black-brown with a foamy, tan head. Fun snout, with notes of light coconut, chocolate, soft roast. Medium to big sweet flavour with notes of light roast, smoke, raisins, more chocolate. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with light smoke, mellow warmth, scorched earth. Good stuff overall.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2019 Smak och doft av mörk bitter choklad, kakao, rostad malt, torv med toner av fat, lakrits och blåa bär. Kärv, bitter men ändå rund i smaken. Fin beska och bra balans. Mycket gott!
