Aromas of oak, caramel, vanilla, skunk, yeast funk, cardamom, candy, nougat, bread, corn syrup, bourbon and malted barley. Pours heavy copper with a massively thick foam and lacing. Taste brings massive oak, sawdust, corkscrew, caramel, grain malt, vanilla and soft bourbon upfront. Mid palate offers marshmallow, toasted oak, vanilla, nougat, alcohol sugars, donut glaze and creme brûlée.? Overall, a beautiful beer with tons of flavor.

22oz bomber pours with a near clear deep copper body that supports a near white head. The aroma offers up brown sugar, prunes, molasses and malt nuanced black berry. The taste delivers smooth brown sugar, smooth prunes, some thin molasses and honey drizzled apple. Pretty nice Weizzen

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2018 On tap at Tap and Handle. Caramel color. Aroma is boozy banana. Alot of banana and clove with booze mixed in. A little too boozy, cool beer but expected better.

(Rating #7933)

Tap at Tap and Handle. Murky orange pour with a soapy white head. Bourbon aroma. Sweet banana. Soft palate. Decent.

My Bottom Line:
This Weizenbock-flavored bourbon shocks at first, but might succeed in pleasing the sweet tooth in you.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the hazy amber.
-The Weizenbock is really buried under all that bourbon and alcohol...
-Fruitiness is quite sugared, lacking some freshness.
-Banana candy flavors are prominent.

Bottle.

2016 vintage bottle. NO 001. Aroma is bourbon dominated. Some alcohol notes. Vanilla. Oak. No apparent weizenbock character - no banana or cloves. Appearance: Disappointing. Very Hazy copper with a brief beige head that had almost no head retention. Flavor: bourbon dominated. Caramel, vanilla and toffee notes in the background. Strong alcohol flavor noticeable. No hops detected in aroma or flavor as it should be. Again - nice combination. But no signs of weizenbock. Might as well been an amber ale. Mouthfeel: medium body. Low carbonation. Medium dry finish. Slight sweet note from those yeast derived esters perhaps? Or is it sweetness from alcohol? Overall: I enjoyed it but it's not a weizenbock. Barrel aging doesn't do anything for this style. It's an interesting take on a lesser known beer type but it has some issues. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Cap Tap. Pours reddish copper with a thick beige head and a fruity malty aroma. There is a hearty fermented wheat flavor with a warm alcohol trail.

Tap at Cap Tap. Pours amber with a near-white head. Aroma of light treacle, with a mild roasty/near smoky aspect. Making me think a bit of peat. Med body or better. It’s slickly sweet. There’s a wheaty/treacly main stream. Imagine a wheaty barley wine (contradiction?). The malt/wheat is not overly done, but it is the main deal. Smooth. Not bitter, but something is moderating the grain. Really good ale.
