RSRIZZO (2264) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - NOV 5, 2020UPDATED: NOV 5, 2020 22oz bottle courtesy of Headbanger poured into a Snifter. Color is a deep ruby with mellow carbonation and thin off white head. Aroma is rich with dark fruit and toffee. It has a medium to full body with a crisp mouthfeel. Flavor is light for a Barley Wine, giving mild fruit back by citrus and a bold bitterness. In the aftertaste the bitterness turns sharp leaving the citrus and a bit of pine to hang on. Overall its a nice brew, to me it seems more like a Double IPA then a big rich Barley Wine.
SG111 (2285) - New York, USA - JUL 4, 2017Bottled 10/2013. Pours Burgundy chestnut color off white head. Aroma is caramel, chestnut, fig, raisin, toffee, touch of oak, and smoke. Malt forward English style nose. Flavor is bitter hops, caramel, toffee, fig, raisin. Very much malty up front, and a bitter finish. I enjoy it.
TimE (8459) - Tokyo, JAPAN - MAY 26, 2017Deep russet color. Fascinating Nose of cherries, caramel, wood, brandy and grapefruit. Big malty, caramel, backbone with hop assault of cherries, stewed oranges, grapefruit and wood. Awesome stuff. Very smooth, alcohol well hidden. Sweet cherries and oranges in the finish with slight alcohol burn. Excellent
andrewje41 (6568) - Monroe, Washington, USA - OCT 6, 2016Draft 10 oz pour (fitting) at Fish Woodinville. I’ve spent a long time seeing these beers around and assuming I would "get to them" eventually. First visit, finally, the the new-ish Woodinville pub, and I’m very pleased to see some fun and rare beers featured. This was one I heard about but never had the pleasure of running into. Also just heard this won quite a prestigious award in its class, so the expectations are set high. One of those old school breweries from my home state, I wish I spent more time giving their stuff a try. Fish brewing is old enough to order a fish brew. Of a Reel ale, or whatever you want to call it today. This beer really has an old school feel. A classic barleywine. An amber copper pour with a cream beige smooth foam head. A soft vanilla, caramel malt aroma. Flavor is rich, but not too sweet caramel malt, with an appropriate amount of booze heat for a well made double digit barleywine. Smooth, and the flavor, as well as a decent dose of bitterness lingers forever. Something about this batleywine is leaving a memorable taste. A beer that when you think of the brewery, you think of this one beer. Not too intense, but you feel it after a small sample. A beer with a description that threatens to be longer than my rambling ass rating. A rating that will unfortunately come to an end, just like the enjoyment session of this beer.
KyotoLefty (14291) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JUL 1, 2016Tap at Imazato. Dark brown with orange tints, hazy, lace. Hoppy nose of pine, chocolate, some caramel. Rich, big, strong and hoppy flavor. Quite drinkable for a barley wine because of the big hops. Nice.
KansaiBeerLvrs (7658) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JUN 24, 2016Fish tale squared on tap at Craft Cafe Imazato.
A nice looking mahogany red with a beige head. A bready Graham cracker and fruity citrus aroma while the taste is sharply malty with big sharp green hops plus citrus. A classic US style Barleywine.
beastiefan2k (4714) - Bawlmer, Maryland, USA - FEB 19, 20162011 version on draft at BPP. Maybe this ws good at one time but it’s just bitter tea leaves now, super astringent, a complete pain to even sip. Big head and lots of lacing though. Truly, a horrible stripped, industrial and astringent barleywine.
ICEatALAMO (1366) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - JAN 23, 2016Bottle. The color is a hazy amber with white head. The aroma is big on toffee and burnt caramel. The taste is big, good flavor, then burns out nicely with oak. A very solid barleywine.

Birrananda (42) - - NOV 1, 2015Pours orange copper color, low foam retention. Nose is piney, roasted caramel and hints of dried fruits. Bitter taste, hoppy citrusy flavor, resinous medium body mouthfill. Lingering explosion of hops, potent alcohol feel yet not overwhelmingly. Taste of IIIPA rather than a Barley wine.
bulldogops (2907) - St Albert, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 31, 2015Rating #1233 - 19.08.2014 - Bottle at Pourhouse. Nut brown pour, bubbly head, not much lacing.
