Jerre (5574) - Deerlijk, BELGIUM - JUL 25, 2018Thuis geproefd op 11 februari 2018 van 33 cl fles (Willems).
Bijna helder blond bier met witte kraag (redelijk stabiel).
Aroma: zoet, moutig, licht fruitig. Medium body.
Smaak: zoet, beetje kruidig (koriander), moutig, en een minimale hopbitterheid.
Een te gewone zoete tripel.
Alengrin (9649) - Gent, BELGIUM - JUN 12, 2018The first beer by a new brewing company in Neerijse, brewed at De Graal. Thanks Johan for the bottle. Thick and frothy, membranous-lacing, egg-white, closed and stable head over a hazy, vaguely ochre-tinged straw-golden blonde beer. Aroma of ripe banana, stewed apple, coriander seed, potato peel, white bread, pear juice, hay, gin, soap and a light note of DMS. Sweet onset with strong bubblegum-ish isoamylacetate, banana, apple and pineapple notes with medium fizz; rounded, bready malt sweetish middle with a wheaty soapy edge and a lot of residual white candi syrup sweetness on top; coriander and light phenolic notes in the finish paired with a late but welcoming, hayish, floral hop bitter accent – yet the sugary sweetness lingers beyond this, highlighted by a glow of ‘jenever’-like alcohol which becomes just a tad too prominent for my personal taste. Too sweet and a bit too boozy, but otherwise decent enough; the question that remains, however, is: why yet another 20th-century style classic Belgian tripel? Surely a commercially driven decision, rather lacking in inspiration and creativity, I’m afraid.
