dandeman (1821) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 17, 2021UPDATED: DEC 17, 2021 The fig-like black fruit esters outperform the roasted malts in this palette of fairly chocolate aromas on a fairly powerful alcohol base.
The liquid is very dark brown, almost black and is embellished with ruby reflections.
Medium-sized foam is quite dense and maintains quite well.
The starter is quite roasted and chocolatey, but the rest of the sip gives way to dominant hops and an intense resinous bitterness.
Notes of chocolate, strong coffee, fig, molasses rather in the background.
Alcohol, coniferous earthy hops, contribute to give with the roasting an intense bitterness, harsh and sharp.
The body is rather moderately light and the carbonation just active enough to enhance the feeling of bitter bitterness.
The perception of alcohol is high but remains within the limits of a good integration.
A very hoppy, bitter, but tastefully complex porter.

bdleedahl (4795) - , Saxony, GERMANY - NOV 22, 2021UPDATED: NOV 22, 2021 Sharp, dry, bitter. Not as world-class as suggested on here. But fresh could be better than this bottle from bierkonig Amsterdam
poisoneddwarf (4653) - Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, USA - NOV 6, 2021UPDATED: NOV 6, 2021 12 oz. Aroma has notes of caramel, dark bread, chocolate, coffee, toasted marshmallow, herbal hops. Pours black with a one finger beige head with decent retention. Taste is lightly sweet with relatively high bitterness, finishing dry. ABV hidden pretty well. Could've sworn I'd rated this ten years ago or so. WTF.
KevinReddirt (1138) - Midland, Texas, USA - OCT 30, 2021UPDATED: OCT 30, 2021 I have a 12 oz bottle of Gonzo to sample this evening, a '21 vintage it says on the label along with 10% abv. Astros playing tonight, I'll drink from my Buffalo Bayou tulip glass. The liquid is an impenetrable, mahogany brown finished by a solid but diminishing head of medium tan foam. I take a sniff to get dark grain bread, chocolate, and some berry influence. And the drink goes along with the scent. Dark chocolate, field, malt, strawberries, leather and licorice. Finishes with a pronounced bitterness. A solid imperial porter, I believe I like the Black Buttes from Deschutes generally more.
Jerseyislandbeer (3514) - JERSEY - JUN 10, 2021UPDATED: JUN 10, 2021 Old rating - 355ml bottle, 8.7%, pours dark brown with a beige head. Aromas & tastes of chocolate, coffee, earth, herbs, hops & roasted malt. Medium body. Sweet finish

Moderate carbonation. Aromas of roasted malt, crystal malt, grassy and herbal hops, a little bit earthy as well. Flavours are mostly the roasted malts and earthy, herbal hops. A little of sweetness in the finish. At 10%abv, goes down quite well and smoothly. Dry mouthfeel with a tad bit of bitterness on the palate.
tuningui (26) - - APR 8, 2021UPDATED: APR 8, 2021 Espuma baja, densa, cobriza.
Aspecto negro oscuro, no translúcido.
17Beer (1621) - Weston, Connecticut, USA - FEB 28, 2021UPDATED: FEB 28, 2021 12 oz bottle. Pours an impenetrable brown with a dense tan head. Lacing. Sweet nutty smells with some bourbon notes. Good dry porter with bourbon notes over nice toasted malt. Warming alcohol but not overpowering. Very nice.
DraftPours23 (2632) - FRANCE - FEB 27, 2021UPDATED: FEB 27, 2021 Robe brun très sombre mais pas totalement noire. Mousse abondante, brun sombre. Sympa.
MBlessing (4093) - Württemberg, GERMANY - JAN 25, 2021UPDATED: JAN 25, 2021 Dunkles Bier schöner schaum, Röstmalz im Geruch.
Im Geschmack ebenso dazu kräftig bitter Bitterschokolade.
Gefällt mir ganz gut aber ziemlich heftig.
