lavaaaron (2245) - - MAY 2, 2019UPDATED: MAY 2, 2019 Draft pour, deep brown color. Strong vanilla bourbon aroma. The bourbon is very forward with the alcohol vapors coming through but those fade to notes of vanilla, bourbon, chocolate and raisins.
BuckeyeBoy (14695) - Boise, Idaho, USA - SEP 18, 201822oz bottle thanks to Matt. Pours out black topped with a tan head. Nose is bourbon barrel vanilla roast coffee chocolate and some ash. Taste is more of the nice bourbon barrel notes coffee chocolate and some caramel.
solar (128) - - JUL 19, 2018UPDATED: NOV 28, 2021 YUM! On tap at Mad Anthony’s, Waynesville, NC. Medium tan head. A delicious porter with a strong BB aged enhancement... tastes of roasted malts, caramel, subtle hops and bourbon. Lower alcohol makes this beer very drinkable and is a great alternative to bourbon barrel imperial stouts that might bowl you over. Would definitely have again. I am a fan of this porter! Lower ABV rates this high in my book for a 'sessional' BBA porter or stout.
JaBier (12380) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - SEP 10, 2017Bottle shared by a friend. Clear brown pour with a medium tan head. Nose of malt, chocolate and bourbon. Malt, bourbon, cherry and chocolate flavor with a vanilla finish.
Bacchus66 (2142) - South Carolina, USA - AUG 27, 2017650ml bottle at home. Pours dark brown with a fading tan head. Bourbon features very prominently in this, supported by cocoa, vanilla, oak and roasted malt flavors. Low carbonation, medium body. Interesting beer, sort of a session-BA, all the flavor but half the ABV.
JBPortland (1642) - Virginia, USA - AUG 3, 201722oz bottle pours dark brown black with a finer of foam. This was barrel aged? Could have fooled me. Uninspired offering. Fairly standard run of the mill porter base here that leans more towards the dark fruit side with a backinng of oatsy granola. Finishes with a slight hint of vanilla and raisin. No barrel characer. At least it was fairly priced at around $8 a bomber. I see why. Meh.
UNCCTF (589) - Cary, North Carolina, USA - JUL 28, 2017On tap at Harris Teeter in Cary. Deep brown, nearly opaque, with a tan head. Very malty, some dry hoppiness to balance it out. Caramel notes throughout. Has a boozy taste in the finish - you would think it was higher than 5.8 ABV if you didn’t know. Tasty.
Mr.Spooks (4080) - Tennessee, USA - JUL 26, 2017Boozy as hell, with a deep vein of bourbon accentuating the dry bitterness of Peoples. Dark, bitter roastiness meets vanilla, chocolate, dark fruits, and loads of liquor. Still prefer the original, but BBA makes for a nice variation.
Imaena (2404) - Kyiv, UKRAINE - JUN 13, 2017Bottle. This is a perfectly balanced porter with lots of layers and roasting to keep you thinking.
patnichols (11) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - MAY 19, 2017<6% and solid beer. Good go to brew. Thin palate though. A big notch below port city.
