FROTHINGSLOSH (11821) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 7, 2019
UPDATED: SEP 7, 2019 Rating #10,000. Celebrated appropriately. ++ Sampled from a bottle this beer poured a black color with a large foamy brown head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was malty with bacon, floral hops, a hint of chocolate and booziness. The flavor was roasty, bitter and dryish with bacon, Bakers chocolate, floral hops and booziness. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Disappointing.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2019 On tap @ Bruisin Ales. Pours deep inky brown with thick mocha head. Aroma is dark chocolate, charred malt note, coffee, light sugary flavor on the back. Taste is likewise - roasty malt dominates, dry with light chocolate on the back. Solid, not outstanding.

BOD 1/24/18 Pours dark as a starless night. World class head volume, quite outstanding retention and poor lacing. However, at 9.6% ABV, poor lacing is typical. The nose is quite outstanding - rich and complex. As expected, coffee and chocolate are the prominent aromas. Notes of black currant, raisins, very light cherry and molasses round it out. Soft touches of leather and tobacco add the final touches to this complex nose. Heavy medium body that has some heft to it. Elements of creaminess emerge at the finish aided by the soft carbonation. The carbonation / body balance is outstanding. The middle provides enough effervescence for flavor separation but not body disruption. The finish is similar to the middle - soft and finely bubbled. The flavor profile is borderline world class. The complexity of the nose and its previous descriptors are all present. In addition, roast emerges over a slightly bitter sweet base that is a combination of sweet and bakers chocolate and cocoa. Alcohol is covered (no small feat with 9.6% alcohol). As the mid-palate sweetness fades, leather and tobacco notes really shine. The finish is a slow fade of roast, leather, tobacco and black cherry over a touch of coffee and chocolate.

mbgrayson (907) - Anaconda, Montana, USA - APR 17, 2018
UPDATED: MAR 10, 2019 Pours almost black, with a nice tan head. Aroma is sharp with notes of hops and malts. Tastes of chocolate, malts, and a bit of sweetness. This is a good stout, certainly not too sweet for the style. I's love to try the bourbon barrel one. Thumbs up.
