Taste is orange, musty pear, red date, bready spicy malt, oak, moderate bitterness w a faint metallic twinge to it. Heavy, fruity and spicy. a little musty.

HKdIPA (1286) - HONG KONG - SEP 4, 2019
UPDATED: SEP 4, 2019 Big bottle from Village Market (?) outside Sequoia national park - random spot. 2017 bottle so could be good, could be less good. Had in SF. Hazy deep ruby orange pour with fine sticky white head. Aroma is huge booze and frankness, but mellowed by aging I think. Taste is candied dank hops, with marshmallow and booze. Possibly better last year or year before. Definitely has that older hops flavor, but could be a result of aging, rather than sitting on shelf. Palate is sticky but not too viscous. A bit too big even to split between two in one sitting. Over the top. Good but not great.

Dacrza (1557) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - JUN 19, 2019
UPDATED: JUN 19, 2019 DATE: June 18, 2019... OCCASION: a monster evening of moving stuff to storage, with a huge shout-out to Dad, Uncle Joe, and Matt--with a lot of work by Shan too! This one has sat for about a year... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter... pours a nearly opaque orange brown amber body, lively enough despite its doom-laden 12.4% ABV... given that number, its head is amazing retentive, holding a half-finger of white bubble clusters that ring the glass unevenly... the bouquet is an explosion of sharp flowers, candied brown sugars, deep whiskey hints, herb garden, light resin, earthy citrus--pomegranate, orange, and mango--and some malty aspects like caramel and rye sneak in as well... a wealth of aromas, but it returns to a stiff DIPA hoppiness... murky, dense and extremely resinous... this sips smoothly, thick and buttery--that characteristic bourbon dryness late, and its heft is disguised, cloaked in a body that presents like an IPA--dangerous and seductive... as this drinks, the bourbon gains in its profile, buttery, grainy, and sweet... it begins to dominate past the hops, but the combination weds well regardless--the citrus shines through, and the resin drips with a thickness that hols long after the sip finishes... this is a beer worth cherishing slowly, with butterscotch and fruity esters mingling sweetly... slightly nutty, with strong vanilla, and this is a great way to end a Tuesday... would seek this out on tap when Liquor Factory next has it available...

Beer5000 (9502) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - FEB 20, 2019
UPDATED: FEB 20, 2019 Bottle. Clear golden body with a small white head. Quite sharp aroma of sweet malt syrup, vanilla and mild hint of Bourbon. Aroma is not what to expect for something with IPA within the name, but nice. Flavor is sweet pale malt, ripe fruit, wood, herbs, quite bitter and vanilla. The Bourbon is almost just something floral. Full bodied and long aftertaste. Interesting, but the aroma seems to be the best part.

MadRobin (3973) - Silver Spring, Maryland, USA - DEC 10, 2018
UPDATED: DEC 10, 2018 Poured from 12 oz. bottle. Clear, golden amber with a 2-finger off-white head and very good lacing. Aroma of caramel, vanilla, orangey citrus, oak, pine and figs. Taste of caramel, grapefruit, pine, plums, figs and vanilla. Medium/full body and medium carbonation. Surprisingly fresh hoppiness for a barrel-aged beer.
