FatPhil (22608) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - APR 3, 2021
UPDATED: APR 8, 2021 330ml bottle (beerdome.nl) (5-:4:6-:4:10=2.9--) Salty savoury aroma, as well as sweet, some mushroominess and soy, this is all over the place. Much more coherent taste, drier, a good portery roast, some liquorice. Drying palate, and the residual sweetness doesn't override that. Bitter finish. As it warms, it gets way messier, heavier, and slicker. A one-sip wonder? Nope, wasn't even that great on the first sip.

pivnizub (12576) - Bochum, GERMANY - MAR 6, 2021
UPDATED: MAR 6, 2021 Can: As usual, as black as ink, as usual small and stable tanned head, solid bitter-sweet roasty-fruity nose with sweet vanilla and wood underneath plus a slight alcoholic touch; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, full bodied but not soft; lingering sweet-bitter roasty, woody and alcoholic finish. Too rough...

imdownthepub (22082) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 31, 2020
UPDATED: DEC 31, 2020 Canned, 330ml from Hoptimism, Loughborough, Leics. Black with tan head. Thinner pour than expected and thinner on the palate too. Black roasted malts with a hint of coffee plus a note of bitter chocolate. Sweet caramel flavours come through with a note of vanilla. Not as big as you would imagine. Not sure with this, it was a touch disappointing but still drinkable.

Icedwarf (3487) - Etten-Leur, NETHERLANDS - SEP 19, 2020
UPDATED: SEP 19, 2020 Zwart bier met mooie bruine schuimkraag. Smaak is bitter en licht zoet met iets van koffie, mokka, wat rook, noten en chocolade. Verder vrij romig mondgevoel. Geweldig bier!

Marduk (15939) - Reval, ESTONIA - AUG 15, 2020

MarcoDL (8408) - NETHERLANDS - AUG 12, 2020
UPDATED: AUG 12, 2020 Can. Black pour. Aroma of bitter licorice, dark chocolate, burned caramel, roasted malt and a little smoke. Taste has bitter dark chocolate, creamy licorice, caramelised malt, salmiak, smoke and mocha coffee. Well made, but too much licorice flavor for me to fully enjoy it.

4.1
CraftBeerNick (6534) - Wokingham, Berkshire, ENGLAND - JUN 13, 2020
UPDATED: JUN 13, 2020 Can at home, 13th June 2020. Pours black and viscous, aroma is roasted malts, meaty, light liquorice. Taste is bitter, roasted malts, some savoury Notes and dark chocolate. It’s complex, bitter and flavoursome, very little sweetness, my kind of imperial stout. Great stuff named after a great hero.

3.4
Fin (15185) - Attenkirchen, Bavaria, GERMANY - JUN 11, 2020
UPDATED: JUN 11, 2020 Can picked up from Hoptimism Webshop, Loughborough, Leicestershire UK and consumed at Camping Resort Zugspitze, Grainau, Nr Garmisch Partenkirchen, Wednesday 10th June 2020, in the company of Kostas, cooking Pastitsio and listening to John Renbourne - The Attic Tapes. Pours almost black with a beige head. On the nose it's roasty a little hint of spice, cinammon perhaps. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel, chocolate, creamy a little burnt toast or actually wood, good beer but lacking a little in some departments.
