Full, creamy mouthfeel, and a strong malty flavour, slight aftertaste of tea. Strong stuff, so take it easy.

PubTun33 (279) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 15, 2021UPDATED: MAR 15, 2021 500ml glass bottle from Waitrose Westfield London. The beer is dated as best before Feb 2022. Was purchased on promotion at £1.50. Served at cool room temperature into a pint glass.
The beer pours a dark orange, old worn copper colour with a small one finger smokers white head. Some decent looking carbonation for a style I’ve always assumed should be flat.
The aroma is lovely, and very English. Sweet fruity malt, orange, bread dough. Very buttery. Strong and bold, the aroma alone is very inviting.
The taste follows the aroma. Malt led, bready, fruity, almost like a buttered slice of Soreen malt loaf. The hops provide a slight bite that adds a nice balance to the drink.
In the mouth the beer has good legs with an initially bitter English hop taste that is bang on the right level for my palate. By this I mean the bitter quality is forward without ever tipping into the ashy taste many pale ales give. Eventually, the bitter gives room to the malt also staying on the palate for a good while. Somewhat soapy.
Overall, a great example of the style. Not something I’d session but a very nice beer.
one51 (1349) - - FEB 14, 2021UPDATED: FEB 14, 2021 Bottle from an online shop. Medium red amber, small head. Hardly any distinguishable nose, maybe it was three hours of cooking intense chili that did my nose one for. Flavor is smooth, lightly malty sweet, clean and nutty, low carbonation, mild astringency and spicy lemony-citrus hop character. Very nice and better than I was expecting!
