BeardedAvenger (5128) - New Haw, Surrey, ENGLAND - NOV 17, 2021
UPDATED: NOV 17, 2021 Bottle from Waitrose, Frimley, when I was in search of Vintage Ale. Aroma is very sweet - sugary dark fruits with caramel and a touch of sweet liquorice. Clear cola brown. Thin foamy light beige head. Initial sourness before bitterness comes through. The sweet dark fruits are in there but you also have citrus and quinine. Cloves. Cinnamon. Ginger. Underlying malts. Medium bodied. Slick. Soft yet prickly carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. It's alright. Would prefer warming dark fruits as opposed to the bitter and sour parts.

PubTun33 (279) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 12, 2021
UPDATED: NOV 12, 2021 500ml dark glass bottle from Waitrose Westfield London for £2.45. Dated as best before 01/12/2022. Served at cool outdoor temperature, about 8 degrees, into a pint glass. The beer pours a clear rich copper colour, developing a small dirty white head and dissipates into a few puddles very quickly. Little visible carbonation. On the nose the beer is malt driven, with bread and dried fruit. Some toffee notes. Having said that, the aroma is very light. The flavour amps up a notch from the aroma but is still not as deep as other Fullers beers of the same style. Toffee, malt and dried fruit. The lightest touch of spice. All low level sweetness little else. Little carbonation, short lived in the mouth. Overall, a standard example of the style. Not bad but there are better beers readily available.
