COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A classic Vintage Ale with an aroma which incorporates spicy hop notes with rich fruit character and leads on to a very full malty, fruity, sweet palate which has a surprisingly clean finish coupled with a matching bitterness.
I have handcrafted this beer from the finest Fuggles, Target and Super Styrian hops, Maris Otter malted barley and of course, our unique yeast to create a truly extraordinary unique brew. - John Keeling, Brewmaster

UPDATED: APR 22, 2021 This is a backlog rating from 2007 from a bottle, from notes. When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time, work and/or family. Words to describe this beer are caramel, toffee, dark fruits, good.

UPDATED: SEP 21, 2020 500ml bottle from Waitrose, Rickmansworth and drunk on 02/12/2010. This version was big on the caramel and sweet dried fruit notes. A little booze on the nose. Biscuity and pretty sweet flavours. Some rum hints and vanilla in there.

Opens with a little pfff, so still a good amount of carbonation left. Pours cloudy dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of caramel, soft bready malt, tiny oxidation despite the full decade. Tiny vinous note on top of the barley. Slight bitterness in the aftertaste along with mineral yeasty notes and more caramel. Mouthfeel is medium rich with soft carbonation. Held up extremely well but maybe not as complex as I had hoped.

UPDATED: DEC 1, 2017 Bottle #91181 poured into a nonic pint to celebrate passing my doctoral defense. Cloudy caramel pour with a tiny of white head. Aroma is apples, plums, and caramel malts. Initial taste is lots of dark fruits, figs, biscuit, some oakiness, and a little alcohol. Aftertaste is light and continues the flavors already mentioned. Very full bodied with light, but active carbonation. I wasn't sure what to expect with this since it was brewed ten years ago, but it has aged well! I believe it's a bit higher than 8.5% now too. Great memories of my last trip to London.
