jjsint (6133) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JAN 6, 2022
UPDATED: JAN 6, 2022 440ml can delivered from KWM Wines, Kilkeel and drunk at home. Mahogany and clear with a small beige head. The gentle smoked malt character overshadows most other notes in the aroma, but I am getting some date and plum. The taste is more complex and nuanced, however: an initial smoky sweetness quickly gives way to a tenacious hoppy bitterness. It's incredibly bitter in the long finish with medicinal notes accompanying the smoky flavour. A well-made beer, and one to savour.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2021 Can from Geers. Hazy dark brown, small, tan head. Aroma of cooked ham, anchovy, burnt beechwood, chestnut, earth, herbs. Taste has sweetish apple & pear over toasty, nutty maltiness intertwined with smoky meat & beechwood. Herbal hoppy finish, lingering smoke & burnt wood, red fruit, some caramel, toast. Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation. Very pleasant Smoked, smooth.

GoddamnNoise (722) - Pontevedra, SPAIN - JUN 5, 2021
UPDATED: JUN 5, 2021 44 cl. can @ home, served in a teku glass, best before: 2022/03/16, canned at: 2021/03/16. Aroma: medium intensity aromas of smoke, beachwood smoke, hints of caramel malts, caramel, burnt caramel, burnt brown sugar. Appearance: reddish to copper color with very light brown foam made of small bubbles which quickly grow to become medium and big sized ones. High head thickness, medium to high Brussels' lacing, medium to high retention, low haziness. A quite thick layer of foam remains on top of the beer for a long time. Taste: medium sweetness, low to medium bitterness, no sourness. Flavors of smoke, beachwood smoke, hints of toasted and caramel malts, caramel, burnt caramel, burnt brown sugar. Balance is slightly toward the sweetness but it is not cloying or unplesant at all and very well balanced. Mouthfeel: low to medium body, watery texture, low to medium carbonation, long dry finish with low bitterness and the aforementioned flavors. Alcohol is well hidden, not noticeable in the aroma or flavor and only noticeable because of a low to medium intensity mouth and throat warming. Astringency is not noticeable but a low acidity is. Overall: good appearance, medium intensity aromas and powerful flavors of smoke, beachwood smoke, toasted and caramel malts, caramel, burnt caramel, burnt brown sugar. It is quite good but it would be better with more complexity and more layers of flavors. Good.
