UPDATED: JAN 4, 2022 Keg at Borefts Day 1 22/09/2017. A light hazed golden orange coloured pour with a frothy white head. Aroma is damp campfire, smoked malts, floral, light spices, cardamom. Flavour is composed of birch smoked malts, light bacon, oak, caramel. Palate is semi sweet, rounded, oak smoke, moderate carbonation. Lingering slightly harsh smoke.

UPDATED: OCT 9, 2020 Bottle at home in Hackney - received as a gift from in-laws. Pours unclear copper with a small, bubbly white head. Light to medium sweet flavour, lots of rich smoked ham, toasted malts, leafy bitterness, crunchy grains. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, surprisingly sturdy bitterness, lingering smoked ham. Good stuff.

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2019 Lichtbruin bier zonder schuim. Smaak is licht zoet en licht bitter met een overduidelijke rooksmaak en iets van thee en abrikoos daartussen. Niet een bier wat een ieder zal aanspreken.

UPDATED: SEP 14, 2019 Bottle from Geers. Cloudy amber colour, white foam. Nose of citrus, smoke, peach. Taste is sweet, malty, some notes of tropical fruit, smoke. Strange combination. I don't know if I like it.

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2019 Hazy orange with moderate head. Smoky, quite spicy, a little herbaceous with a kick in the finish. Decent.

UPDATED: APR 17, 2019 Bottle. Malty smoked aroma. Malty and hoppy taste, smoked notes, light citrus fruit, medium bitter. Medium to full body, malty smoked bitter finish. Ok.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2019 Bottle from Utobeer. Pours a hazy copper with a barely-there white head. Very low carbonation. Taste is dominated by wood smoke and kippers with a fruity marmalade taste underneath. Some notes of heather and peat (this review is getting more and more Scottish for some reason....) and a hint of bubblegum. Well-made with a good balance. An interesting rauchbier- tasty and intriguing.

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2019 Lite dimmig, snyggt gul och lite orange med ett litet skum. Doft: Rök, rökt korv, skogs sjö, limpa, lite lager. Smak: Söt len malt, rök, alkohol, lager, citrus skal beska, lite kemiskt/metallisk.

Wie der Name " Gänstaller Rauch Royal Smoked Imperial IPL" bereits vermuten lässt, ist es schwer, dieses Bier in eine Schublade zu stecken. Es ist ein dunkles Lager mit starkem Malz- und Alkoholgeschmack, das einen ebenso starken Rauchgeschmack hat. Ein Bier vor allem für Fans von Rauchbier, die mal was extravagantes versuchen wollen.

Refrigerated 33 cL brown bottle poured into a glass. Hazy deep golden with huge white head. Aroma is smoked malt, medium body, medium/well carbonated, and good small-bubble lacing. Aroma date is yeasty and smoked malt.
