UPDATED: JAN 2, 2022 Can from the Packie. Dark brown with garnet highlights and a frothy off white head that persists. Coffee roast and toffee maltiness with hints of earthy hop to counter. Really nice for a gluten free brew but seems to lack mouthfeel and has an odd flavor I cant nail down.

puboflyons (4654) - Allenstown, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 4, 2021
UPDATED: DEC 4, 2021 From a 16 oz. can. Dark brown to near black pour. Tan head. Sweet caramel and coffee malts fill the nose in the aroma. Maybe something floral back there. The body is moist definitely creamy and in the medium range. The taste is sweet and roasty to start with a notable coffee character. Not horrendous but nothing I would drink a second time.

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2021 Nope. Dark brown. watery. Smells of mollasses (and not in a good way) and tastes of ash. Not good in any way.

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2021 Aroma is slightly sweet fruit and roasted notes. The flavor is roasted malts, mild coffee and a slightly sweet/acidic finish.

UPDATED: JAN 22, 2021 DATE: January 21, 2021... OCCASION: another night, another basketball game to watch on TV--this time, Penn State and Rutgers... GLASSWARE: Samuel Smith tulip pint... this pours a pitch-black body whose brownish fizzing head dissipates into roiling bubbles... roasted oats, a bit of peat, licorice, faint coffee bean, raisin, and bread malts--this smells the part... a strong, textured start, and alive like cola... slightly chewy, appreciably long on its finish, and a presence that is--almost impossibly for a GF stout--medium-bodied... the roasted oats make for an agreeable start, with coffee bean, licorice, and vegetable providing the roundness for a stout that could pass as a rougher oatmeal version... it pervades cola as well, which leads 3easily from sip to sip... I was excited about this one--Ghostfish has done a nice job with their ales, and my hope is this will be among the few substantial gluten-free stouts or porters... this does the style justice, and will be one I seek out again on gluten-free evenings...

Ernest (9030) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAR 2, 2020
UPDATED: MAR 2, 2020 Can (Nov 26, 2019 canning). Head is initially average sized, fizzy, brown, fully diminishing. Body is murky dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain/coffee, cocoa powder), with light notes of nut shells, vanilla. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Medium body, watery/oily texture, soft/flat carbonation. Ok nose...simple and cocoa powdery, but nothing offensive. In all other aspects, though, it's difficult to enjoy. Not bad for a GF beer, though.

onceblind (17156) - Denver, Colorado, USA - SEP 15, 2019
UPDATED: SEP 15, 2019 Black hue with a thin light beige head. Roasty dark malt nose with a touch, a hint of sesame seed/soy sauce. Smooth flavor that’s dark and malty and slightly toasty and very lightly earthy and...just kinda normal. Color in the lines stout.

mcberko (34280) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 13, 2018
UPDATED: DEC 13, 2018 On tap at Ghostfish, pours a murky dark amber brown with a tiny beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, not much else. Flavour brings out toasted malt and some red fruits. Lacking body and integration. Weak.
