COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewers in the midlands of England would boil their barley wines ales for longer times to intensify their flavors. In making Massive! we used only British Halcyon pale malt and boiled for eight hours, giving the beer a deep ruby color and rich malt flavor. Heavily hopped, Massive! is a beer that can be enjoyed now for its intensity, or after years and years and years of aging.

Ibrew2or3 (10208) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - NOV 7, 2019
UPDATED: NOV 7, 2019 2015 vintage non BA. 22oz bomber pours with a dark clear mahogany colored body that supports a wafer thin light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sticky prunes, figs and raisins as well as booze, malts and a bit of oxidation. The taste delivers smooth slick sweet malts running into prunes, raisins and a touch of oxidized cardboard notes. To midway moments of caramel and molasses are notes before this slides into a pleasing finish. This is a smooth sipper with little sense of the massive ABV.

GregMooreNH (6520) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - JUL 27, 2019
UPDATED: JUL 27, 2019 Pours hazy mahogany with a one finger dark beige head. Aroma is strong toffee, butter, roast and some booziness. Taste is toffee and fig, moving to buttery notes, light roast and building hoppiness. Finish is hoppy and toffee. A good barley wine.

UPDATED: MAY 15, 2019 22 oz bottle 5/24/19 (Binny's Montgomery) 38° in Snifter. Pours ruby with no head. Aroma of sweetness, brown sugar, toffee, caramel, and malt. Taste of the same with a bit of alcohol. This full bodied brew is not bad but a bit sweet.

shawnmurphy (1798) - Plattsburgh, New York, USA - FEB 26, 2019
UPDATED: FEB 26, 2019 22-ounce bottle pours clear mahogany-ruby with no head and the tiniest bit of tan lacing. Aroma: brown sugar, malt vinegar, raisins. Flavor: intensely sweet with caramel, toffee and brown sugar, along with raisins, molasses brown bread, nuts; syrupy sweet with no detectable balancing bitterness (say, like with a Sierra Nevada Bigfoot barley wine). Mouthfeel: full-bodied, oily finish. A sweet booze bomb that is so sweet it's cloying, and eventually becomes exhausting to drink (I dumped the last one-third of the bottle).
