FoamForever20 (1148) - STAVANGER, NORWAY - DEC 7, 2021
UPDATED: DEC 7, 2021 Dense copper, tall non lasting white head. Aroma of malt, citrus, pete. Taste is maltdriven with a sour hint a la biere de garde, citrus and caranel aftertaste.

hawthorne00 (6630) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAY 30, 2021
UPDATED: MAY 30, 2021 Bottle. Put it into a thistleish Tripel Karmeliet glass - to which I guess a Belgian Scotch Ale following the Carmelite tradition might be suited. Ha. It looks good in it too -very dark brown with a beige head that settles to a dense inch. Big malty aroma with dark sugars, dough, spices, licorice. Full bodied, maybe a bit fizzy. Not as sweet as I'd guessed with a touch of vinegar toffee, singed and toasted notes offsetting the brown sugar and stewed fruit elements before firmish bitterness. Carries its alcohol with aplomb. Better as it warmed to ~12C.

DraftDodger (5615) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 28, 2021
UPDATED: MAR 28, 2021 Copenhagen 28/3 2021. 75 cl paper wrapped bottle with a simplified drawing of a brewery in snowy weather kept in the colors dark green, red and white. Pours unclear, murky maroon with a big off-white head- Settles as thin but consistent layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Settles a thin, patchy layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing. Aroma is fairly intense with a sweet odor mingling with salty fumes. Caramel, toffee and hints of brown sugar. Salty licorice. Sea breeze. Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lightly tingling texture. Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed but a medium strong bitterness with a salty tang. Aftertaste is salty with a light streak of alcohol. Lingers for a while. Not every day I drink a salty Scotch Ale from Belgium. Dark and sweet with a salty streak.

Zlotta (7579) - Hagen, GERMANY - DEC 6, 2020
UPDATED: DEC 6, 2020 0.75 l bottle from 'Bierloods22', bottled in September 2020. Almost clear, very dark ruby with a large, foamy, stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently fruity and a bit yeasty-spicy aroma of raisins, prunes, molasses and some clove. Gently sweet, malty, quite fruity and slightly yeasty-spicy taste of raisins, prunes, clove, some caramel and a touch of burnt sugar, followed by a short, moderately bitter, gently yeasty-spicy finish. Medium body, quite effervescent mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Pleasant beer, a genuinely Belgian-Style Scotch Ale with quite some yeasty notes, fits well into the winter season.
