PubTun33 (279) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 22, 2021
UPDATED: NOV 22, 2021 355ml glass bottle from House of Trembling Madness online. Dated as bottled on 16/02/2021 but without a best before date. The beer was served fridge cold into a weizen glass. On the pour the beer is white straw colour, extremely hazy once settled. All head on pour, very slow to rescind. Lots of micro bubble carbonation. Typical for the style. On the nose the beer is wheat forward, with the oats noticeable. Orange peel and spice. Citrus. In the mouth the beer follows the aroma. Not with big depth of flavour. Mainly coriander and orange peel. Refreshing and easy to drink, little aftertaste. Overall, an anerage wit beer. At the price point better are available.

Taste: Wheat malt, yeasty notes, coriander notes, bittery and fruity notes of orange peel. Moderate sweet and moderate to over moderate bitter. Light hints of banana. Smooth mouthfeel. Just over medium body, quite dense (oats). Just under average carbonation. Long lasting finish. Very nice Witbier with a little bit Saison twist.

UPDATED: JUL 11, 2021 75cl bottle from Sophie's Beer Store. Drunk prior to England vs Italy in the Euro Final. Pours a murky dull gold, no head remaining. Aroma is gently sweet, floral. High carbonation, Taste seems more akin to a sweet saison than a witbier, bright spicy sweet character, excellent balance. Lovely.

dflb (527) - California, USA - SEP 15, 2020
UPDATED: SEP 15, 2020 Procured at Gerrard’s Market from Redlands, California for $14.99, Jan de Lichte is a Belgian witbier crafted by Brouwerij de Glazen Toren from Erpe-Mere, Belgium. The aroma of Belgian yeast, orange peel, lemon, clove, coriander, and a herbal hop are noted as you drink. The appearance is a light gold that pours a finger of white head. Light reveals a cloudiness to the body and shifts the color to bright yellow. The alcohol content is 7%. Lemon is juicy and fairly tart to the take. Orange peel fairly bitters the take and livens the lemony profile. A tangerine flavored and herbal hop blends with the lemon and orange peel elements. Belgian yeast slightly thickens the body and smoothens the drink while giving off a banana hue. Coriander compliments the lemon and Belgian yeast base. Candi sugar lightly sweetens the Belgian yeast, lemon, and orange peel combination. Clove softly spices the take and felt upon the moderately carbonated comprehension. Wheat malt textures the mouthfeel and blends with the yeasty, lemon, and clove notes. Oats are sensible upon the mouthfeel during the slightly dry finish. Jan de Lichte is an exemplary Belgian witbier. Lemon, orange peel, tangerine and herbal flavored hop, Belgian yeast, coriander, candi sugar, clove, wheat malt, and oats fuse together into a indelible craft beer. The acidic lemon, orange peel, and tangerine like hop bouquet is beautiful upon the carbonation and yeasty body, which is fairly sweetened by the candi sugar and lightly water down by the water quality. The clove spice and orange peel bitterness combines upon the take and accents the lemony, Belgian yeast, and wheat malt frame. Clove provides tone to the Belgian yeast and coriander characters. I cherished every single drink and enamored by its complexity and depth. Cheers. Prost. Drink for the love of beer. For more beer reviews, visit and like my blog “Drink For the Love of Beer.”
