COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewer Oscar and Quality Analyst Paul created the concept for this new variant of BCBS. The result? Midnight Orange. They combined two things we love, orange and chocolate, taking Bourbon County into a new and exciting direction. While the chocolate compliments the Bourbon County base, the orange zest offers a point of contrast for a bold new flavor profile to delight Bourbon County fans and newcomers alike.

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2021 50 cl bottle (2018) bottle shared with Gyhallmanti and Richardvv94. Appearance: potchblack with small tan head. Aroma: rich coffee and coffee grounds, roasted malts, molasses, smoky bourbon, cacao nibs, caramel and orange in the back. Taste: coffee grounds and coffee, both of which almost reach some kind of spiciness, orange is much more dominant in the taste, complex malts with caramel and molasses, dark chocolate and freshly cut paprika. Palate: full bodied, sticky texture and mild carbonation. Overall: based on the last fresh batches of normal BCBS I think the beer was past its optimal drinking age. The smokiness and bourbon character has mellowed out over time, which has effected the complexity in a negative way. Nevertheless this beer is fantastic. I love the combination of coffee and orange peel in a beer of thi caliber. So well balanced. I would love to try this beer again, just as I want to try the rest of the BC family.

tfontana (3801) - Fremont, New Hampshire, USA - JUN 13, 2020
UPDATED: JUN 13, 2020 Bottle (9/18/18) from Greg and Jane's Beer & Wine. Appearance is opaque black with no sparkle, nice viscosity, thin ring of beige head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, orange, mild bourbon. Taste is strong rich roasted malt, chocolate and milder orange, mild complimentary bourbon. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with silky, thick texture, soft-to-lively carbonation, a bit of heat/alcohol burn (less as it warms), and finish as taste. Overall, the orange is a little bit mild but that is somewhat nitpicking as there are so many other great attributes.
