COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ale pays homage to the Irish who settled on Kilgubbin, or Goose Island, in Chicago over a hundred years ago. In the Irish tradition, red ale gets its rich reddish color from roast barley and chocolate malts. Ours adds a subtle spicy finish from a touch of malted rye, to make Kilgubbin Red Ale perfect for St. Patty's or any special occasion

andyhwcinc (1960) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 26, 2011
Enjoyed on tap at GI Clybourn prior to doing some post-Christmas shopping around the area. Appearance clear amber red with thin white head that rims around the glass. Aroma mostly malty, toffee does come out a bit, slight yeast presence. Taste is nice and crisp with malty backing. Medium body, medium carbonation. Solid brew.

3.3
seymour (2587) - Maplewood, Missouri, USA - NOV 21, 2011
Tasted from bottle into standard pint glass. Poured a clear reddish-brown color with chill haze and moderate off-white head. Aromas of bread, roasted barley and very faint hops. Pronounced malt-sweetness just barely balanced by hops bitterness and dryness of unmalted grain, some fruitiness from the ale fermentation. Light-body with a well-rounded mouthfeel. Well-crafted and easy to drink.
