Bitterbill (2959) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - OCT 16, 2017From Nov 2005
Poured from the bottle a deep brown colour with a medium sized head that dissipated quickly leaving only a fine lacing around the edge of the glass.
The smell is a nice mix of hops and malt with a sweeting caramel smell that was probably the dominant note for me.
The taste is very well balanced and hits my taste buds just right. Sweet caramel tones in the malt with just a touch of bitterness with the hops. Good stuff!!
Bacchus66 (2142) - South Carolina, USA - JUL 31, 201712oz bottle @ home. Pours deep mahogany with ruby edges. Large creamy white head with good lacing. The nose is roasted malt and nuts with dark, dried fruit. The flavors start out the same way, roasty flavors, raisins, malt, then changes personality to hoppy bitterness. Finishes hoppy as well. Interesting take, tasty.
DiarmaidBHK (7594) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 30, 2017Draft at Ben’s tune up. Pours dark brown with a thick khaki head. Leaves a lot of lacing in the glass. Fairly malty on the nose and tongue. There’s some pine bitterness on the tongue which adds some complexity. Finished clean.
hauxe (3004) - Butzbach, GERMANY - JUL 24, 2017Pours auburn from the bottle. Tan, creamy head and sticky lacing. Nice. Aroma is apple, caramel, a bit floral. Taste is mildly bitter with strong roasted notes. Finishes the same but with mild notes of apple, green tea, nuts, and a light warmth. Body is medium. Nice!
chinchill (6213) - South Carolina, USA - JUN 28, 201712 oz bottle served in a Belgian snifter.
Pours very dark for style: near opaque black-red-brown body topped by a thin beige colored head. Limited retention with spotty lacing. A bit of sediment on the bottom of the bottle.
Nutty, yeasty and bready aroma with hints of pine and citrus.
Mild bitterness with a somewhat nutty flavor; bold for style.
Smooth medium body with medium-light carbonation.
