MetalNHopHead (2791) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - NOV 4, 2016Great Dane’s Black Earth Porter is a roasty, malty dark beer that reflects the English tradition. Almost-black pour with a long-lasting creamy head. Lots of roast, toast, and even a little smoke in the aroma. Dark chocolate, coffee, and scorched barley flavors. Some bitterness but it’s not harsh. Full, rich palate. Apparently Madison knows how to do more than German styles.

thedm (6316) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - JUL 6, 2015This draft brew from the brewery poured a extremely small sized head of frothy finely sized clear colored bubbles that were fully diminished and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque dark ruby red brown colored body and a poor lacing. The mild aroma was roasted malt. The flat mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering mild roasted malt aftertaste. The weak flavor contained notes of black malt roasted malt and . Not one that I would likely drink again.
