UPDATED: NOV 18, 2020 Nov, '20 bottle aged since 1/28/16: Good nose of sweet dark fruit; Amber hue with tan head & good lace; medium mouthfeel w/ smooth effervescent carbonation; taste is bitter raisins and dank fig/date; dry quenching finish that retains bitter bark notes. For me, I would like to see a bit better balance with sweet to bitter, but my review reflects what the brewery says about their beer.

UPDATED: APR 18, 2020 April 17, 2020 - bottle, 2012 vintage, as part of the 2012 barley wine battle royale. Orangish brown pour with large head. Aroma of caramel, malt, dark fruit and light spice. Taste was consistent with the aroma, but a mild bitter finish.

UPDATED: FEB 28, 2019 Extreme Beer Fest, bottle. Poured dark amber, off white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, toasted. Taste was bittersweet, caramel malts, dark fruit, alcohol.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2018 It pours medium brown with reddish hues. The head is light brown. Head retention is excellent. Strong malty notes the feature caramel and toffee. It also has some raisin and bready background notes. It has a strong malty flavor highlighted by caramel and toffee. There are some orange and citrus elements supporting the malt presentation. There are also some floral elements. Alcohol is noticeable, but very smooth. It is full bodied with a bittersweet finish. Alcohol warming is very pleasant and smooth. Overall, this is a good balance between the malt and the hops with the malt being a little more forward.

UPDATED: DEC 25, 2018 12 ounce bottle. Bottled on January 28, 2015. Hazy brown pour. Brief beige head. Sweet toasted malt nose hints at caramel. Malty, burnt sugar flavor upfront. Rich and complex. Light carbonation. Notes of dark brown sugar and resiny pine. Intensely bitter finish.,

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2018 I noted down ... old ass bottle pulled from the back of one of my shelves. Poured a mahogany color with an averaged sized off white head. Dark fruits, caramel, toffee and a trace of citrus. Aged well.

Bottle. Bottled Jan 2016; BB undated; Drank Jan 2018 - Clear deep reddish brown in colour. Small beige head. Very hoppy; heavy hop bitterness, piney resinous hops. Malty; grainy malts, toasted, caramel. Fruity; grapefruit citrus, dried fruit notes. Mildly spicy. Warming alcohol. Quite dry. Bittersweet heavily hopped malty fruity throughout. Increasingly bitter hoppy finish. Very hoppy Barley Wine. Good. (2018-01)

Bottled end of 2013, opened end of 2017. Aroma is mellow caramel, pine, toffee and candy. Taste is a soft sweetness, a bitter backbone. Super easy to drink.

UPDATED: NOV 24, 2017 Aroma: sweet malty, light earth. Appearance: deep brown, light haze, good tan head. Palate: medium full mouthfeel, low carbonation. Taste: sweet malt, strong grassy hops. Strong bitterness that lingers in throat. Warm alcohol fumes in mouth

12oz bottle at home. Pours dark reddish brown with a thin tan head. Full bodied with sweet dark fruit, raisins, sweet malt, then caramel, citrus fruit, citrus hops and a dose of pine. Syrupy texture; the long warm finish leans hoppy. Love it.
