We toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. A Yeti for summer? Hell yes.

Saeglopur (3713) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - AUG 12, 2018
Sampler shared by PowY, thanks!
Black body, with a medium, creamy, lacing, dark beige head.
Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, soy sauce, coffee, some citric hops.
Tastes similar, with even more hops.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a low carbonation.
Finishes surprisingly hoppy, a bit harsh, roasty, a bit dry, with cocoa powder, soy sauce, coffee, liquorice.

Very nice. Quite hoppy for the style, while also with lots of chocolatey and roasty notes. Becomes a bit unbalanced and harsh towards the finish though. Still an interesting sipper, but I prefer the regular version.

PowY (3777) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - AUG 8, 2018
650 ml bottle at Werckmeisters place, vintage 2017. Pours a nearly black, red-brown with a light brown head. The aroma is medium malty and lightly to medium hoppy - roasted malt, cocoa, coffee, toffee, burnt wood, strong herbal notes, spices. Medium-full to full, creamy body with a light to medium sweetness, a medium bitterness and lightly spicy. Flavor of roasted malt - dark chocolate, cocoa, licorice, burnt wood, hints of wood, vanilla and spicy chili. Finishes with a medium but long lasting roasty bitterness and a light spiciness from the cayenne chili. Not bad, not exception - still pretty good.

pintbypint (4303) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 5, 2018
RBAG 2018. From a 650ml brown bottle. Dark brown and oily looking. Thin brown foam that fades out quickly. Nose has chocolate, nuts and wood. Taste - toasty malt, chocolate malt and nuts. Some wood notes in the finish and some dark malt/dark chocolate in the finish. Really didn't notice that sash of cayenne they say is in this, but really... this is a pretty outstanding beer.
