COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
By the mid 1800s, Vienna had become an important brewing center. At a time when lagers were becoming popular German-speaking Europe, a new style was created in the ‘City of Music’ by using a lightly kilned malt. This resulted in an amber lager with a delicate sweet and bready profile. Here in Etobicoke, we’re cocky enough to think that we’re capable of reproducing the almost 200 year old style. This copper coloured Vienna Lager is gently sweet and has a subtle richness. The big bearded brutes that brew it, on the other hand, are anything but subtle or sweet.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2021 [Can (473ml)] Pours a dark ruby-brown with an average size lasting frothy off-white head. Minimal to no lacing. Aroma of lightly toasted bready malt, nuts, a hint of coffee and light hops. Flavour is malty first and foremost, followed by nuts and light hops in the finish. Average bodied. Not what I think of as a Vienna Lager but still pretty good.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2021 473ml can from blankboy. Looks gorgeous - deep, clear copper with a decent fizzy/foamy beige head. Fairly sweet floral/biscuity malty aroma - taste even more sweet, it's almost grape/prune/unripe berry - but enough graham cracker malt and minerally bitterness to offset it somewhat. Light body, slick, what carbonation there is is fairly stinging, with a quick finish and vaguely sweet linger. I'm never going to love this style but this seems decent enough.

UPDATED: AUG 28, 2021 2021-08-20. Nice mahogany brown body, large foamy head. 3+ Aroma has pleasant lightly toasty malt character. Flavour has a malty base, lightly tangy finish. Average bodied palate, moderate carbonation. Okay. 7/4/6+/3/14 Can from Great Lakes, Toronto.

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2021 growler, filled at Abe Erb...pours a lightly hazed beautiful copper-red with a 3 finger off white cap that lasts and laces the class sides...aroma is demure but it has solid toasty-nutty malt aroma with dried leaf undertones, light caramel tones....mouthfeel is full bodied and creamy but character is malty-toasty with clean dryness....flavor is toasty-nutty maltiness in the front that gets balanced with a spicy-earthy-tea hoppiness...slick finish goes dry...soft natural carbonation....I love Viennas, and this one of the best domestic craft Viennas I have had, they really hit the style benchmark with this offering..right color, right character and flavor
