T: medium malty base, light toast, nutty, bready, decent bitterness, soft carbonation, easy drinkable, ok for the style yet nothing memorable.

UPDATED: OCT 9, 2021 Clear amber pour with a thick creamy off white head and thick bands of lacing ….. aroma of chewy caramel malts, toasted malts, berries, sweet and sugary …. Taste is of creamy sweet chewy caramel malts, toasted malts, berries, toasted malts and some earthy hops …. Finish is sweet malts, caramel, berries, earthy, bitter hops and toasted malts …. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel …. Medium bodied …. Super malty and creamy. A nice brew

UPDATED: SEP 6, 2021 Bottle from my local off-licence ‘Wine Rack’. Pours a clear copper colour with a thin off-white head. Aromas of caramel, biscuits and toasty bread. Taste is caramel, fruit cake and peppery spice. Malty with a subtle earthy hop on the finish. Nicely balanced. Medium body with a smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. Decent enough.

UPDATED: JUN 30, 2021 Amber pour, decent head. Nose is malty and nutty. The middle shows some caramel, medium kilned malt, light nuttiness, some dried fruit. Finish is medium bitterness and drier than the body. I liked it.

UPDATED: MAY 25, 2021 Lighter than I expected but still like it. Amber color and that carbonated as more of the beers

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2021 Non nitro can. Bright orangish amber with a coat of pale beige head. Aroma of stone and citrus fruit, spices. Less marmalade-like in the taste mainly because the bitterness is a bit higher than you'd guess from the aroma. Lacks a welcoming texture, but not bad at all.

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2021 Pours dark amber, little head. Caramel and nut aroma. Taste is malty, dried fruits, burnt toffee, quite sweet, with nutty hops. Finishes with dried fruit and nut. Smooth mouthfeel, moderate carbonation.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2021 Bottle, toasty, malty-sweet and faintly sulphurous nose. Sweetish and hoppy dry-bitter, caramel and dry leaves, a little two dimensional and metallic.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2021 500ml bottle brewed in England at 5%. Clear light tawny amber, with a small, decent-duration head. Light strawberry hops and toffee-biscuit malt. Moderate carbonation. Faintly leafy strawberry hops, a biscuit malt with a little toffee, and a dry metallic finish, not unpleasant per se and helping to balance the maltiness. Shades of black grape in the aftertaste. Still, this is recognisably a budget bitter; although it works very well with what it's got, being somewhat rich and faintly creamy in texture, you just don't want to be in the position of having to choose between a puddingy-sweet ale or a suck-a-penny bitter finish in the first place. Greene King brews are best experienced on tap, but fans of 'old school' (as distinct from genuine heritage brews) English ales will find this enjoyable bottled (if probably not quite what it was back in the day). Drinkers of 'modern' style beer however, let alone 'craft'....well, a bottle to try is cheap enough, and it'll make a change that's for sure!

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2020 Bottle. Clear amber color with small white head. Caramelized malt, grain aroma and flavor with some sweetness. Medium to low carbonation.
