COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double Negative pours jet black with burnt orange highlights. A long lasting tan head leaves abundant lacing. Aromas bursting from the glass include coffee, bitter chocolate, caramel, black currant and blueberry. Creamy and viscous on the palate, the flavor initially follows the nose. A pop of smooth bitterness comes after, and then a lingering, roasty finish.

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2021 650ml bottle from Appalachian Vintner, shared with bananabi11. Never looked for a bottle date, so unsure of age. Almost black pour with a brown head. Aroma has sweet and roasted malts, chocolate, and vanilla bean. Somewhat earthy. Taste is of sweet and roasted malts in a nice meld, chocolate, some coffee, a bit of smoke, and some dark fruit. Fairly complex and fairly deep. Medium to full bodied, there is a bit of an alcohol presence. Finishes leaning slightly to the sweet side of bittersweet, but the roast held up well. 15.4

saltyseadog (240) - Des Moines, Iowa, USA - FEB 10, 2020
UPDATED: FEB 10, 2020 500ml bottle from Windsor Hy-Vee, in a Sam Smith pint glass. Really nicely mingled aromas of finished oak, milk chocolate, medium-roast coffee, malted milk balls and caramel with hints of candied fruit and forest floor. Pours oily black with three fingers of dense, creamy chocolate head that laces really extravagantly. Creamy, sweet and malty up to start things off with roast and subtle bitter chocolate taking over mid-palate, with a long malty and roasty finish with a little heat from the 10.0% ABV hitting bottom. Full-bodied but surprisingly easy to drink. A little bit of bitter chocolate astringency at the back of the throat after the finish. Really good! Great aromatics, looks amazing and surprisingly easy drinking for an imperial, without even having to adulterate it with vanilla beans. The best of the 3 Grimm brews I've had to date. Cheers!
