COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Labatt’s brew a pale ale base to which is added the unfermented but hopped Guinness wort extract. Guinness Extra Stout is brewed in Canada by Labatt under license from Arthur Guinness Son & Company. Editor’s Note: It looks like Moosehead is also brewing Guinness. Bottles in the US are from there of late, but Canadian bottles are still showing Labatt. 04/23/06

Guinness in the bottle is terrible! I like bitter, but this is just the wrong kind of flavor and without the smoothness of nitrogen bubbles Guinness loses a lot of it's flare and definitely it's smooth quality. If you haven't had a bottle, try it once just to say you have and you'll also have a higher level of appreciation for Guinness on tap or in the can.

UPDATED: DEC 25, 2021 Una cerveza café muy oscura, no deja pasar la luz, con una espuma cremosa con un color acafetado. Notas a tostados presentes, y un amargor sútil y ligero.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2021 Somehow haven't rated this before now. Dry roast, creamy head and dry finish. Hint of old leather and some light bitter but. Black pour with great head and lacing.

UPDATED: JAN 14, 2021 Took me a while to come around to this one, but the stout flavoring quickly grew on me. Has a bold feeling, goes great with a plate of wings. Almost has a burnt taste to it, but strangely not in a bad way. Not for everyone, but great for enjoying and sitting down enjoying the flavor, not necessarily for crushing them down.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2020 Hits your tongue with massive prune, coffee, and leather flavors. A bit drying afterwards. Medium carbonation. Good roastiness. Not as smooth as regular Guinness, but more flavorful. Pretty dang good for $3 on a cloudy, cold, fall day.

UPDATED: MAR 18, 2020 Keg at Hoohah Cafe, New Orleans, LA on 28/06/2008. The description of adding Guinness wort into a pale ale mash doesn’t sound too tasty, but a height of industrialised production. Either way, it doesn’t really taste much different to the European one, and might have been nicer out of a bottle than the dreaded nitro keg. Not too bad, though.

Rod_beer (188) - DF, MEXICO - MAR 11, 2020
UPDATED: MAR 11, 2020 Deep brown colour with medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and caramel. Taste is mild sweet, with some smokey hints of wood, coffee and bacon. Light to medium body, high carbonation, bitter end. It seems very new, since it is brewed in Tijuana, Mexico. Not so different from the draught can and bottle, slightly lower quality, but good overall.

UPDATED: JUL 26, 2019 The Guinness I regularly stock for drinking and recipes. Makes great brownies too. Only Guinness I like better is Foreign Extra stout.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2019 Bottle in Manhattan, New York. Oh, this has the roasted barley taste unlike the Extra Stout in the British Isles or Europe. Not that different from the draught Guinness, except more ABV.
