From Jun 2008 I got this bottle from jwc215. Thanks Joe! It pours a hazy straw gold with a 2 finger and growing head of foam. The smell is of candy sugar, yeast, lemon zest, and some clove. Oh, and there is some funk. It wasn't easy to pick up on until after I had several "holding the glass to my nose" moments. Overall, the smell insinuated some sourness. The taste has the clove and lemon zest up front followed by notes of candy sugar and yeast, some banana, some pepper, and a slight funk taste. That(the funk) could have a bigger presence and I'd be happier for it but it's still tasty enough to keep me satisfied. Nice lacing and the head retention is quite good. It has a light but pretty nice mouthfeel to it, the carbonation borders on medium, and it finishes with the lemon and funk so, I really like the finish. ;^) Overall, I think this is a pretty good example of the style and I'd be happy if it was available locally. I'm always pleased to try another Saison and this one was tasty. Edit: I forgot to mention. The alcohol is well hidden. I'd have never guessed that this is 8%abv.

Grainy and tart - weird dark fruit notes for the style, but enjoyable for sure. Just weird.

Pours a hazy orangish/gold color. Aromas of tart fruit, bread, citrus, and yeasty. Flavor is malty/citrus. Leaves a yeasty orange aftertaste.

Grassy aroma in a hazy golden pour. Superb sour fruit flavour is a typically American take on the style (in-your-face).

bottled - Belgiany flavor and aroma. Orange-amber in color. Definitely drinkable, but not as good as expected - probably should try it again in the summer.

DATE TASTED: February 8, 2015... GLASSWARE: La Fin du Monde tulip... OCCASION: watching the Grammys and waiting for more inclement weather... APPEARANCE: cloudy, light yellow body; creamy off-white head settles to a reasonably bubbly half-inch; ... AROMA: instant lemon grass and bubble gum; pepper, clove, and a bevy of hop varietals to tantalize ... PALATE: quite drinkable, with a smooth, rum-like warmth and comfort; the finish is dry but welcoming and lingering...TASTE: a dramatically packed burst of hops that evoke flowers and lemongrass; bubblegum, clove and anise (?) complicate the experience in a good way, with each sip invoking consideration; fruits like pear and apple arrive late in a loaded plate ...OVERALL: this was the beer I took to the 2003 trip to OBX, and all as well until I found a claw (!) in a bottle; still, a fantastic beer for the summer--and, not bad in the months leading up to the spring...

Pours a pale amber body with a medium head. Faint aroma of dough. Malty taste with sugar tones. More like an ordinary belgian ale than a saison. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From a 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear gold with a fine white head. Yeasty nose. Flavors of banana, lemon and coriander. Slightly sweet smooth finish.

Tap. Pours a hazy golden with a layer of off white head. Aroma and taste of yeast, spices, hint of fruit, malts.

[6626-20140815] Bottle. Yeasty fruity aroma is fresh and light. Clear, pale yellow orange body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. More apricot fruitiness in the flavour. Medium body. Average. (6/3/7/3/13) 3.2
