oldrtybastrd (5002) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - APR 15, 2016Pours a nice cola colored brown. Aromas of dark malts, fruit, and a touch of spice. Has flavors of chocolate, caramel, and a touch of wood.
Stuedmaster (352) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 5, 2015Another nice one from the comedians at He’brew. Their bottles are usually amusing to read, but now to the beer. From bottle pours dark brown with a ruby hue. Aroma of dates, figs, brown sugar, toasted malt, dark bread, slight toffee. Nice balance of fruitiness with the sweet malt. Very smooth and easy to drink. It has aged a few years which I think rounded out the flavor. Would recommend this series.
cmacklin (3166) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 21, 2015650ml bottle. Pours a clear, dark reddish brown with a large, frothy, long lasting, tan head that laces. Sweet aroma of dates, figs, bready malt, caramel, spice and yeast. Sweet flavour of dates, figs, brown sugar, caramel, bread and yeast with a dry, spicy, light boozy finish. Medium body with a smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Pretty decent.
nathan30533 (1022) - Clifton, Ohio, USA - MAY 23, 2015Ok brew. Just not my style. Burgundy in color. Sweet taste and I can tell the style is packed with malt.
radagast83 (11245) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - APR 16, 2015Draft at the DC Beer Festival in Nationals Stadium. Poured a dar brown color with a small off-white head. Aroma was some roasted malts, bitter malt, with some dark fruits (like dates). Sweet, unmistakable Shmaltz notes. Dried fruits, malts.
onceblind (17156) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 16, 2014Aged one year+. Pours a deep dark brown with a foamy light beige cap. Nice aroma if sweet bready dark malts and dates and raisins and some sort of citrus tone. Smooth and mellow earthy toast sweetness with figs and dates and a dry breadiness with a touch of sweet earthy dark malt toffee. Interesting and quenching.
phaleslu (14680) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 2, 201422 oz. bottle I’ve had for a while, so I don’t remember where I bought it. Opened at Thanksgiving. Big hit with my uncle, who polished off most of the bottle. Pours a hazy reddish brown with a small beige head that lasts as a thick ring. Lots of caramel and brown sugar and toast here, balanced by some dark fruits, boozy bread and cake, and mellow spices. Medium-bodied, with low to moderate carbonation and a sweet, malty mouthfeel. Leaned more doppel than dubbel in my glass. Interesting beer. I’ll have to try the 2014 soon.

weihenweizen (6384) - Charleston, West Virginia, USA - OCT 7, 2014Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a tulip. Medium brown with crimson hues and big beige head. Aroma is dark fruit, medium body, medium carbonation, and some lacing. Taste is dates, figs, brown sugar, some toffee, and other rich dark fruit. Interesting, complex, thirst quenching, pretty easy to drink for the ABV, one of my favorite dubbels.
fitwitchik (433) - Ohio, USA - SEP 2, 2014Poured from a 2013 bottle into a snifter red amber with minimal head.
Aroma is burnt figs. Caramel.
Flavor reminds me of a burnt sugar malted toffee. Really nice blend. Ever slight bitter hops present but doesn’t take away from this dubbel
A really good brew from 2013. Had one when it first came out & now finally enjoyed this one after some time.
