UPDATED: DEC 18, 2021 말해 뭐하겠습니까, 편의점 라거 중에 쌉쌀하고 청량한 맛이 일품인 Heineken의 흑맥주 버젼인 하이네켄 다크라거입니다. 요즘 지역별 크래프트 브루에서 온갖 신상들이 쏟아져나오는데 반해 편의점의 냉장 쇼케이스는 많아야 2~3칸이다보니 네임드 세계맥주들도 잘 안보이는 경우가 많은데.. 역시 구관이 명관이더라구요. 스모키한 카라멜 향이 나는데 오리지널의 클리어함을 염두하고 마셔서인지 더욱 아로마가 풍부하게 느껴지네요. 아니 객관적으로도 아주 강렬합니다. 맛은 카라멜쨈을 바른 토스트 같기도하고 앞서 맡은 향들을 맛으로 그대로 느낄 수 있는데 로스팅몰트에서 오는 구수하고 달짝찌근한 풍미를 잘 표현한 듯 해요. 삼키고나선 뭔가 팥을 먹은듯한 꾸덕한 단맛이 남는데 하이네켄 특유의 쌉싸름 시원한 맛에 흑맥주의 깊은 풍미가 은근히 재미있게 잘 녹아들어간 맥주! 비슷한 제품으로 코젤 다크가 있는데 가볍게 달달한 맥주를 마시기엔 뭐 둘다 덧없이 좋은 선택.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2021 This is a backlog rating from 2007 from a bottle shared by Tmoney99, from notes. When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time, work and/or family. Words to describe this beer are caramel, boring lager malts, light earthy, meh.

UPDATED: JUN 6, 2019 bottle in NL, pours amber orange with small to medium head. Notes are roast, sweet malt, corn, and grain. Prefer the Ice Cold Heineken or Amstel over this one.

Bottle shared by the Luttons. Thanks! Thin cola appearance. A touch of nutty grain. Toasty, bready malt. Cool, thin finish. Alright brew.

Bottle in Bellingham. Thanks to my brother for grabbing this in Incheon for us. Tan, foamy head. Brown cola. Nutty, burnt aroma. Brown malts, sweet, a bit fruitier than I would have expected. Not bad, but burnt rubber flavor isn’t too pleasant.

Can (Seoul). Dark brown colour, steady beige head. Industrial nose has caramel, toasted malts. Light-bodied. Sugary, a bit toasted, grassy flavour. Short finish. Quite useissa.

500 ml can bought at 7-Eleven on Shantung Street, Mong Kok.

Clear dark amber red colour; Three finger head with crumpety light beige foam which last for 3 minutes; Good sticky lacing with fizzy carbonation; Sweet aroma of Amber malt, with notable roastyness, strong caramel, sticky toffee, red fruits, cream, floral, icing sugar, bread and light grass; Close to medium sweet taste of Amber malt, with fairly strong roastyness, metallic, tartness, caramel, light toffee, red fruits, floral, fair molasses, faint spices, bread, lemon, mid to light bitter hops and grass; Mid to light body. Quite watery and slick palate; Mouth feel is good Amber maltyness in a thinned but slick background. Good caramel, toffee and red with strong wheaty tartness. Flowery with moderate molasses, light bready with lemon to round. Quite okay!... Hoppiness is floral and light grass in nose. Light spice, floral, lemon and grass in taste; Bitterness is fair for an abrupt, mid to low astringent sweet-bitter caramel malty finish; Slightly dry after taste. Sweet toffee fruity and slightly bitter to mouth.

Comments: This is a macro Amber, but a competent one - Roasty amber malt with strong caramel and red fruits, restrained sweetness with moderate lemony hops. Only the body is a wee bit watery, otherwise it is agreeable and drinkable for couch potatoes!

Can from supermarket in Seoul. Light dark color, beige head. Bittter taste with nuts, malts, toast, cardboard and a bit chocolate. Bitter finish with nuts, malts, cardboard, toast and a bit of dark fruits. Pretty awful stuff.
