Bottle conditioned.
For this sweet flavoured and dark brown beer,we use aromatic malt (for the dark colour). For abbey beer, Kapittel Pater has rather low abv (6%). The hop we use is Poperingse hop which has only a light bitter taste.

flying_pig (2680) - IRELAND - DEC 29, 2020
UPDATED: DEC 29, 2020 330ml bottle from Beers of Europe (£2.19): A dark caramel body that's translucent & topped with quite a thick, creamy to golden white colour with excellent retention & lots of lacing on the glass. It's malty on the nose with caramel, faint alcohol & a slightly nutty aroma with a nice underlying sweetness, floral notes & some hop bitterness sneaking in at the end. It's again malty tasting but with more floral touches, apple & a little yeast showing. The beer is balanced & fruity with some nutty flavours, citrus & grapefruit making an appearance too. It's sharp & strongly carbonated with a slightly dry, effervescent finish that's a tiny bit warming too.

bilcho1 (1487) - Ruse, BULGARIA - APR 3, 2020
UPDATED: APR 3, 2020 330ml bottle from Carrefour at Baneasa, drunk at home on day 14 of the lockdown. Clear but intense rusty brown, lots of head, lacing and a steady stream of fast-rising carbonation. On the nose, sour fruit, raisin, hints of cherry and honey. In the mouth, creamy for an instant and then the sourness kicks in, flavours of sour fruit, old wine, hints of brown sugar, mild bitterness and a touch of sweetness but both hammered down by tart acidity into a clean finish. It's hard to believe it is intended to be as sour as this, but still clean and refreshing. A Dubbel and a Lambic all in one.

Goldbarren (4264) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - FEB 21, 2020

Nurmis (1979) - Oulu, FINLAND - FEB 16, 2020
UPDATED: FEB 16, 2020 0,33l bottle from biab. Pours hazy dark brown. Some caramel, berries. Quite sweet with a hint of sourness. Medium bodied, carbonation quite low also.
