COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Arthur (1922-2005) was our grandfather’s youngest brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this version of Arthur was aged for many months in our puncheons--not quite Arthur, not quite Art, but magical all the same. Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Arthur.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2021 375ml bottle pours a lightly hazy gold with some tight, white head. Oaky nose, green and and lemony, lots of oak and funk.  Flavor has the citrus, some green grape and plenty of oak tannins. Grassy too.  Tart finish, medium bodied. Long finish. 8 3 8 5 15

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2021 375 ml bottle from the brewery. Pours a cloudy gold with a small white head that settles into a ring and island of film. Notes of pear, lemon, white grapes, oak, bready and pale malts, and minerals. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a soft, tart mouthfeel. Really nice.

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2021 Bottle. Slight gusher on opening; I am glad I did not wait on this one any longer. Pours a clear golden with a small white head and decent lacing. Aroma is a bit funky, yet delicate, lemon, a bit of feet, oak. Flavor is light tart, light plus funk. Light body, soft HF trademark mouthfeel. Great beer, but honestly I am happy with regular Arthur at a fraction of the cost.

Bottle shared by Eric...was in the fridge for a bit and cooled down but still was a small gusher. Slightly hazy apricot pour with a somewhat frothy head that settles down, smooth, funk, long lemon, hay, oak, farmhouse and yeast, delicate with a fading finish as things dry out, light carbonation and mellow body and light tartness. Enjoyable.

Bottle at the brewery. Pours lightly unclear orange-gold with a frothy, pure white head that lingers. Compelling aroma, restrained funk, oak, lemon and lime, straw. Light sweet flavour with moderate acidity, soft lemony tartness, cleansing woody dryness, licks of grassy bitterness, lime peel, undertones of musty funk. Light to medium bodied with delicate, massaging carbonation. The finish is at once dry and super clean, with quenching acidity, more citric tang, and pale wood, and also a little funky and musty (only just); and it all wraps impressively quickly, leaving impressions of dry wood and lemon. Overall, superb.

375ml bottle. Pours golden yellow. Beautiful hazy color on this one. Big thick white foamy head lasting forever. Tiny micro bubbles rising throughout the glass indicating nice carbonation. Beautiful. Smells like a well aged Arthur. Oaky and winey with some light fruitiness as well. Some barnyard funk to it as well and some citrus zest. Tastes light and citrusy with a tiny hop bitterness. White winey and beautifully oaky to round it out. Very smooth and direct flavor. Perfectly balanced throughout. Beautifully carbonated. Tart and slightly sour mouthfeel. Great drinkability. Crisp and medium mouthfeel. Overall, extremely enjoyable. Not the biggest fan of the Arthur but absolutely love this one. Very well done by Shaun.

375ml bottle pours hazy golden yellow with a finger of head. Probably the best aroma I've ever experienced on a beer. So much subtle intricacies of field grain funk, orange and citrus, stonefruit fuzz, lemon, hay, layers swirling in the nose and the taste follows with a wonderful super soft pillowy feel. Moderate tartness and lingering stonefruit. Arthur elevated to the sublime. Rivals 5/2014 Arthur for the best verison of Arthur I've had.

czar (13375) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 27, 2017
bottle shared mixmastermcee, thanks matt. pours hazy light golden with a small creamy white cap offering some retention and lacing. very fruity berry maltiness, chewy lemons, tender oak, spot-on tartness and related complexity; rustic cereals, minerals, fair amount of oak wood from puncheon, well water. moderate carbonation, light body, tart woodsy-citrusy finish. saison yeast seems a lot more prevalent here in this declension - for sure not Art, and not quite Arthur either.
