It has an amber body with an off white head. The aroma has toasted malt, caramel, toffee and nice breadiness. It has a medium body with mild carbonation. The taste has the aroma but more crusty bread. Solid.

Really liked this. Kind of a blend between an Alt and Schawrzbier. Roasted malt and wood with hints of chocolate. Goes down easy.

Shared 12 oz. can. Pours amber brown with an off-white head. Moderate lacing. Nose is toasted malt with some faint fruity notes. Taste is roasted malt, nuts, and grains. Has some light chocolate undertones. It’s perhaps a little thin, but overall, it’s good.

Aroma: a little yeasty and earthy; Appearance: dark amber with thin, white head that dissipates slowly; Taste: slightly bitter and earthy; smooth; Palate: medium body with long finish; Overall: decent, but not my favorite style.

Can from Whole Foods - Lamar. Agree with Cosmic Scherzo, spot on for an altbier. Dry and nutty, medium murky brown/amber body, soft tight beige head. Aroma and taste both accurately represent this Dusseldorf style. Somebody did their homework.

I was reluctant to pick this one up, honestly. The label design looked like something I’d associate with a 40 of some bargain brand. But I though what the hell and decided to try it. Wow, am I glad I did. Tits-clean fermentation with toasty, caramel malt flavors. Bracing, herbal bitterness. Usually, when an American brewery comes out with an "Alt" it means some sort of amber ale. This one nails it. A fantastic example of what remains an underrepresented style here in the States. Nicely done, Hops & Grain.
