[3362-20100827] Cask. Fruity grapefruit navel orange aroma with tons of nectarine. Hazy, light orange amber body with quick foamy off-white bubbles. More nectarine and peach in the flavour with a bitter tang finish. Medium body is a touch flat. A great first offering, I’m definitely excited to taste more!

Cask at Volo. Pours a murky orange with an average size lasting frothy white head. Aroma: Wow! Herbs, spices, hops, wheat, grain, fruit (peaches, apples and more) and more -- that’s just lovely! Flavour’s also great with a nice blend of herbs, spices, fruit, yeast and light citrus hops. Medium bodied. Simply fantastic and a joy to drink, I hope they make this one again and again.

Appearance: dirty orange with a lovely frothy white head. Aroma: lemon, lots of pine, melon, lots of candy, spice & banana. Flavour: spicy, super lemon, ’Barn’ , deliciously spiced, lovely tangy lemon zing, super refreshing. Long tangy finish. Lovely!

Great cask, peachy colour with some whitish head. Orange Amarillo hop smell. Taste initially lactose, then grapefruit, pineapple. A tad above average mouthfeel, which is good for a cask. Hoppiness supposedly below 40 but builds up to what seems as 60. Pepper in the finish. Not really a saison.

August 27, 2010 - special first tapping of the very first "Volo beer" at Volo, in Toronto (on cask). One of the most anticipated rates in recent memory, for me: may the Volo beers be many and varied! Cloudy deep orange with an average diminishing frothy cask head - that’s a 4/5 for me because I prefer non-filtered-looking beers. VERY solid aroma, if possibly more like a hoppy fruit/sour than a saison - but since -I- don’t brew, -I- don’t really care about "styles" and just rate on enjoyment - and I enjoyed this! Aroma of tart, slightly green apricot and peach, mildly spicy, not a lot of yeast, a bit of alcohol presence on the nose, and some fresh-cut dry grass. Taste is quite bitter and pungent - grassy, sharp tangerine zest and other tart fruit sourness, modest alcohol: green. The palate is the one area this seemed a bit lacking - as it was served on cask, there wasn’t much carbonation, and that lack made the body seem a little thin - I think putting this on tap with light CO2 would bump this to 4/5, seeing as the finish was strong (tart, bitter, not boozy). Anyway, I had a full pour after, and am looking forward to this again on September 24, 2010. Congratulations Ralph and The B-Gotters!

Cask @ Volo. Well those of us in the Toronto area have been waiting patiently for this. The aroma is citrus, with some nice malt, hazy yellowish hue, with a trace of white head. Taste is again quite citrusy, grapefruit for me, a fine malt underpinning, hints of peach too. Light bodied, well balanced, refreshing, bitter. A fine collaboration with Ralph, Russ and Eric.

2010-08-27. Hazy orange body with a modest frothy white head. Lovely fruity aroma has notes of peach, apricot, sweet tropical notes. Flavour is lovely citrusy hops with a dry finish, citrus mélange. Very slight sour edges hints of citrus seeds. Citrus grows as you go very light dry funk. Average palate is lightly carbonated and suits it. Very drinkable. Cask at Volo, Toronto
