UPDATED: DEC 15, 2021 Bottle online from Beers Of Europe. Pours an almost clear caramel brown colour with a large thick throthy off white head. Aromas of caramel, grains and toasty brown bread. Taste is fairly sweet at first with more caramel, grains and toasty brown bread with added nuts and a little roasted malt on the finish. Taste sways between sweet and bitter. Medium body, average carbonation and oily mouthfeel. Getting better the more i drink. I am fairly new to this Altbier style. Quite decent

UPDATED: JUL 26, 2021 Bottle. Clear dark amber. White head. Unexpected aroma, lightly roasted malts, rye bread, toast. Pleasant finish, reminiscent of sugar popcorn. At the same time, dry and fresh with prominent tartness. Above average carbonation. Interesting style that I don't get to try too often. Enjoyable.

UPDATED: JUL 26, 2021 0,5l flip top bottle from local store in Dortmund, drinking it on 26/07/2021 labeled as 'Hövels Original Feinherbes Rotgold' Pours a clear light brown - dark amber body with good frothy off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is malt, licorice, toasted bread, caramel and some hops. Taste is malty (4 different) bit sweet, that becomes moderate bitter later, notes of licorice, caramel, bread, herbal, grassy hops in the finish. Medium body and smooth, slightly oily texture, moderate carbonation. Surprising new taste/style for me, but it's quite good, enjoyed it.

Sm: wysycenie srednie, super rownowaga fajnego ziolowego chmielu i pelnej slodowosci, szlachetniejszej, duzo ciala, nieco karmelu, bdb. Pos: lekka przyjemna goryczka, mocna ziolowosc chmielu.

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2020 Delicious bitterness in the start, continues with the destinct malty base (4 malts). The malts are difficult to describe but they work perfect together and end in a slight fudgy caramel taste that matches with the color (red brown). The beer style is something between pils and lager/landbeer i would say. Interesting and refreshing beer that comes from a brewery with a long lasting tradition.
