Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a snifter. Dark brown with no head. Aroma is malty dark malt, medium body, and very little lacing. Taste is tart cherry and some lactic.

bottle. Deep brown with minimal head. Really odd sour flavor. I like sours, but this doesn’t seem like it’s intentionally sour, nor is it pleasantly sour, so uh… I can’t really get past that. It’s a semi-malty porter, but I can’t really taste anything else but this unpleasant sourness.

Way too much champaign carbonation, which is wrong for a porter. The smell is way too sweet as it smells like opening a new can of latex paint. Taste is horribly sour. Totally wrong mouthfeel. I am pouring this out.

Bottle from the Great British Beer Festival 2013. Poured a thick black colour with a dense tan head and some lacing. Aroma of chocolate, blackjack sweets and aniseed. Very aggressive carbonation. Initial flavours of treacle, burnt malt and some spice. Good balance of sweetness on the palate with some burnt sugar, plums and oak.

Bottle 12fl.oz.

Clear dark red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, chocolate, coffee, moderate roasted. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet, light light acidic and moderate bitter with a long duration, chocolate sweet, malt butter, light coffee, raisin - berry tart notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130814]

black with a huge head. Nose is chocolates with some grain and metallic notes. Flavor is chocolates, metallic, and rubbery flavors. Charred burnt and a touch phenolic. Not really my favorite.

Grumbo (14439) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - DEC 14, 2013
Bottle bought at GBBF 2013 and drunk at home. Dark brown colour with a small tan coloured head. Mild chocolate and caramel aroma, with some slightly sour dark fruit. Quite high in carbonation. A little light in body, and somewhat disappointing really.
