COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big, bold, black, and aged in bourbon barrels with cocoa nibs, chili peppers, and whole cinnamon sticks. The lengthy conditioning period in the barrels creates a silky smooth chocolatey mouth feel enhanced by the use of oats and brown sugar during the brew process. Noticeable sweetness gets balanced by roasted malt and hop bitterness. Additional flavors include bourbon, oak, and spice.

tfontana (3801) - Fremont, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 8, 2020
UPDATED: AUG 8, 2020 Bottle pour from Harvest Market, Bedford (R.I.P.). Appearance is virtually opaque very dark brown (dark mahogany with light source directly behind) with light sparkle at the edges of the glass, 1/2-finger width light brown head that dissipates quickly to a ring and light leggy lacing. Aroma is rich roasted malts with milder vanilla and cinnamon. Taste is initial prominent alcohol (more just alcohol than bourbon, fades as it warms) yielding to cinnamon, chocolate, vanilla and pepper spice and heat. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth, thick texture, early alcohol burn in the mouth (fades as it warms), pepper heat, late esophageal alcohol warmth and finish as taste with persistent pepper spice/heat. Overall, disappointing for a barrel-aged beer as it doesn't bring out the best of the barrel. Don't know how much longer this was aged on the shelf.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2019 16 oz bottle. Pours a dark, dark brown with a dense long-lasting tan head. Nice lacing. Scents of vanilla and chocolate. Bourbon comes through in the warming taste with the alcohol flavor cutting through the sweet. Huge mouthfeel with a lingering warm alcohol burn. Low carbonation. Winter warmer

drfabulous (14226) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - SEP 13, 2018
Draught at brewery. A dark pour with chocolate and vanilla and some bourbon not so much Mexican stout notes

2.9
nimbleprop (12943) - Southeast, Washington, Washington DC, USA - AUG 18, 2018
50cl bottle pours a watery cola brown with very little bubbly brown head. Nose has a lot of the sugars, licorice, cola, caramel, BBQ sauce, bourbon. Perhaps a little ancho or chipotle. Flavor is better and more balanced, the cinnamon hits you first and it’s welcome, some vanilla, some chocolate, cola, malt, caramel, licorice, the booze is well blended in, a little inky and a little black pepper. Finishes full bodied, sweet and boozy.
