COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoponius Union harmoniously combines lager yeast fermentation and West Coast IPA hops. Our India style Pale Lager is like a traditional IPA but with a twist - it’s fermented cold and aged for extended periods. A blend of classic American hops creates a huge tropical fruit and citrusy hop aroma. A dry finish accentuates the pleasant bitterness and hop profile. Hoponius Union uses locally sourced ingredients. OG 15.5 Plato

MacNJ (343) - New Jersey, USA - OCT 7, 2021
UPDATED: OCT 7, 2021 Poured from a can purchased at Clayton Liquors (NJ) into a cylinder style beer glass. The filtered, golden hue with a two finger head with attractive webbing is great. Nose has a Cali IPA fragrance despite its Massachusetts home. Cold lager sweet finish blends interestingly with the multiple hops that are present. Well done. Cheers!

hman43 (3700) - Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA - JUN 5, 2021
UPDATED: JUN 5, 2021 It pours golden and clear with a white head. Head retention is very good. There are aromas of grapefruit, citrus, orange, and tropical fruits. There is a bit of papaya and pineapple. The flavors are more tropical fruit forward with papaya and pineapple. There are low grapefruit notes with orange. There are some floral elements as well. It has a medium body with a strong bitterness that lacks the sharp bit that many others have. Overall, a complex blend of hops that carries in both the aroma and flavor and strong, pleasant bitterness.

Slubgob (410) - West Hartford, USA - MAY 22, 2021
UPDATED: MAY 22, 2021 Drank straight from tallboy can. Tropical fruit notes in the nose mango and guava. In the mouth light body, a bit of cereal in the background. How come through on the finish, somewhere between a traditional English IPA and West Coast. Finishes with some bitterness which gases nicely. I still appreciate this brewery's less hoppy offerings, but as this goes it's pretty solid.

hawthorne00 (6630) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAY 17, 2021
UPDATED: MAY 17, 2021 Can. Golden amber with modest white head. Aroma of mango, oranges, light bread. Yes, does have that transparent lager palate. Sweetness is brief with mainly citrusy hops sweeping it away before moderate bitterness. It's not quite like they just bunged an IPA hop dose into a pale lager - it has a little more class than that because the hops don't overpower things - but I'm not quite sure I see the point.

ANZUShophunter (2343) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - APR 5, 2021
UPDATED: APR 5, 2021 From can (pkgd 7Dec'20) in tapered shaker. Pours clear golden amber w/rocky white head, dank citrus hop aroma. Like most IPL's it's a bit discordant at first but improves as it goes. Becomes more IPA-like as it warms w/firm bitterness to close.

ganache (6721) - New Jersey, USA - APR 8, 2020
UPDATED: APR 8, 2020 Cans from the sampler box. Touch of a gusher on tab open, nose in Citra territory. Pour clear, rich golden that's leaning into orange, head rocky and tight meringue, lacing. Taste light-mild bitterness but with not much to block it, hops are lotiony with some resin and grass, tropical fruit. Dryish, bit rubbery, bread crusts and a little toast clashing against intended tropical notes, but medium-full body with excellent tight lager carbonation. Aftertaste is kinda gross, again lotion-glove-resin-crust flavor clash can't be saved by lemon and a touch of pineapple. First misfire I've had from these guys, and it's in design, not execution.
