COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
XPL (Extra Pale Lager)
The hardest part about making new and exciting hoppy beers is sourcing the hops you need. Most hops are bought under contracts which are signed two or three years in advance. We occasionally get opportunities to acquire small quantities of specialty hops that are enough for one batch of beer, but no more. This beer allows us to feature hops that we would otherwise not be able to make use of.Our first release of Hopstitution XPL will be released Thursday, December 5th. It will feature three new experimental hops, HBC-344, HBC-291 and HBC-462.

Bottle via Lubiere. Cloudy pale amber with a frothy white head that settles nicely. Light floral hops, grass, faded barley, some wet cedar, nice bitterness, citrus, high carbonation, mild body, fades a bit on the finish but decent for sure.

A hazed blonde lager with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet bready malt with light German hops, light mineral notes, light oxidation, OK. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with herbaceous character, light mineral notes, light oxidation, pleasant. Bottle is about 3years old but decent shape.

Bottle shared at 5 year. Pours pale gold, white head. Aroma is straw, pine, citrus, lemon, resinous. Flavor is clean & clear citrusy & piney hopped lager.

This was poured into a pilsener glass. The appearance was a hazy golden yellow color with a two finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving a rocky low lying wake of a head. Messy lacing sticks along the sides. The smell had a decent sweet grassy hops to light spiciness, reminiscent of rye. The taste was mainly the same leaving no aftertaste nor finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a nice crisp sessionability about it. Carbonated nicely, it leaves a light spice rolling over my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good premium lager that I would have again.

Golden coloured and uncleaer. Has a white head. Aroma is hoppy, roasted malts. Flavor starts sweet, then nice hoppy and finish bitter.

Pours cloudy golden color with thick white head that holds form well above the rim of the glass. Citrus, papaya, and pine aroma. Sweet citrus start with light tropical fruit on the middle and finishing with an orange Zest fruity bitterness. Bitterness quickly disappears. This brew is amazingly smooth. Packed with a lot of hop flavor but without the bitterness.

Cloudy yellow with big pillowy white head. Lemon citrus hop aroma. Immediate lemony sharp bitter hop. Plenty of carbonation. Nice light malt hop dry finish. Orange zest flavors too. Clearly this is a style that can be delicious.

Golden color. Real detectable aroma... what i can detect is hard to place. Good clean sweet malty flavor with a touch of fine hops. Overall tasty! Good one.

Hops and hops and hops, without the strong, citrusy, piney and overly sweet residues of the in your face IPAs. This is a lager’s IPA. Clean and absurdly smooth finish. The exact hop flavor strongly reminded me of Dogfish Head’s 60 Minute IPA. This is a beer I would advise to a friend who wanted to get into IPAs, but who wanted to ease into them.

crazyvin (2026) - New York, USA - DEC 8, 2014
A clear golden body with a white head that had nice retention. Cereal malts upfront on the nose and maybe some lightly toasted malts. Floral hops and a bit of light bitter hops. Flavor was lightly malty and the hops were mostly floral almost like talcum powder. Finish was smooth. Meh ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
