OldMrCrow (2965) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 11, 2019UPDATED: OCT 11, 2019 Bottle from Growler Guys.
Wow. Amber pour, decent frothy white head. Poured at about 55 degrees F. Classic and unmistakable Jolly Pumpkin nose, despite the absolute craziness underneath. Thick flavors of tobacco with hints of bourbon and lemon, chewier than almost anything I've had. Smoke but not a smoked beer. So intense, viscous, hard to believe it's only 7%. Almost off-putting at first sip and quickly mesmerizing. I've tasted few if any beers that are this far outside of the box and this different from anything I've had before — and yet this good. This is absolutely nothing like Kuhnhenn Raspberry Eisbock, but when I had that in about 2004 it was the same experience of wow, I've never had anything like this and it's amazing. What a fantastic combination of JP classic yeast character and JP experimentation.
