Nekronos (4654) - Xalapa, MEXICO - FEB 19, 2018Quite fine but still a shandy. They are good with some heat and some food. In the overall it was just fine.
Slubgob (410) - West Hartford, USA - DEC 24, 2017UPDATED: DEC 24, 2017 drank out of bottle. nose is orange and apple maybe pomegranate, Ginger cinnamon. mouth is mostly sweet fruit, comes across as a sophisticated Kool aid. finish is short. good for a bottle, wouldn't want more
Christpuncher (3215) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 23, 2017jolly traveller beers are just hot garbage. malty mess with no hoppiness or any regard to flavor. i wouldnt drink it if i was dying of thirst. pours amber with a tan head. had out of a bottle at home.
chinchill (6213) - South Carolina, USA - JUN 29, 201712 oz bottle into a lager glass.
Clear light brown-copper body with a good bone-colored head.
Aroma of winter spices (e.g., cinnamon) but the flavor says apple pie spicing. Lightly sweet. More suitable as a dessert beer than for most other occasions.
Near medium body with medium+ carbonation.
ordybill (1815) - Douglasville, Georgia, USA - APR 3, 2017Poured from the tap into a 20 OZ mug at the Taco Mac in Atlanta. This beer has the color of apple pie and the aroma tp boot. Judged as a shandy, this is a homerun. excellent flavor, made for a warm fire.
Ratman197 (22138) - Denver, Colorado, USA - FEB 21, 2017Bottle poured a clear amber with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of caramel, cinnamon, orange, clove and cranberry. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of caramel, orange, fruitiness and spice with a smooth lingering spiced fruity finish.
Bulk_Carrier (6064) - Vermont, USA - JAN 23, 2017Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a ruddy burnt semi-dark orange color with a fizzling bubbly head. No lacing. I have a feeling I know where this is going.
The aroma had some mulled cider, acidic vinous sourness, soapiness and cooked ginger. Hmmmmm....Not sure if I should proceed.
But I will, the flavor was sharp acidic cidery/vinous sourness. Soapiness comes back to provide a pretty gross effect on my taste buds that runs into the aftertaste hugely. No finish.
On the palate, cloying stickiness hits like no tomorrow. Under carbonated.
Overall, this is an embarrassment of a shandy/radler. Though I’m not truly into the style, I think Germany would laugh at the USA if someone over there had this.
Dacrza (1557) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - DEC 30, 2016DATE: December 30, 2016... OCCASION: having returned from visiting Mom and Dad, looking for something light(er) but seasonal... GLASSWARE: Hoegaarden tumbler.. pours a sizzling head that fades into a dispersed ring... the body is ciderlike, light brown, blurry-eyed and slightly active--overall, not too enticing to the eye... cinnamon, apple, pear, mulled wine, orange, and light pepper and currants... possibilities here... sips are swift, with a flat finish and a subtle buzz around the teeth... the apple, currants and orange peel come through first, with cinnamon and allspice are second... not much else makes the party, but I can live with this if handed at me a holiday party, as much of a shandy fan as I am not...
crossovert (17015) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 30, 2016355ml bottle. Amber pour, Aroma is fruit-by-the-foot. Flavor is pomegranate and cinnamon muffin. Well, its derivative.
muzzlehatch (4975) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 21, 201612 ounce bottle from House of Bottles in Marengo, IL BBD: Apr 2016 so you can all completely discount this review, obviously the beer turned completely into sewage in the early morning hours of May 1 - must be a Communist plot! Anyway, drinking this ice-cold from a pint glass, it pours a murky light bronze, something like root beer, with a smallish quick-diminishing head that does leave a lasting trace in the glass...nose is citrus and cherry-cola, maybe some ginger, not unpleasant but there’s no malt presence here, it certainly comes off as a strong-nosed soft drink or alcopop...thankfully, I can tell there’s some grain immediately on tasting, and the malt is actually fairly supportive of the very sweet and somewhat artificial fruitiness - soda flavors...there’s a touch of lemony or orangy zest and tartness towards the finish, a lingering slightly sour dryness, but overall this is very sweet and just as reminiscent of alcopops as of beer, especially when cold; allowing it to warm, it does get closer to the couple of other shandies I’ve had. In any case, not my thing - and I don’t think it’s the past-due date that’s the problem.
