UPDATED: JAN 4, 2022 Bottle. Have had this for a while, shared now with my brother and girlfriend. Loads of rye, vinous, wood, berries. Cognac notes in the finish. Good if not the very best that jopen can produce.

UPDATED: DEC 1, 2021 Bottle, 330 ml shared with Miro and Max. Dark brown with beige head. Caramel, malty, sweet, ripe fruit. Some cognac notes. Medium bodied.

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2021 Donkerbruin bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is warm en krachtig met iets van rozijnen, natuurlijk overduidelijk wat cognac en een beetje vanille. Heel fijn bier.

UPDATED: APR 27, 2021 Pours clear dark ruby red, mahogany small foam head. Aroma and taste are cognac flavored, very nice. (Velp 2104)

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2020 330ml bottle. Reddish brown pour with fleeting head. Vinous and winey fruit character, spices, nuts, orange peel. Quite complex and drinkability is good.

UPDATED: DEC 13, 2020 Aromat: śliwki, orzech laskowy, miód. Smak: śliwki, lekkie nuty alkoholowe, figi i daktyle. Dosyć słodkie, gorzkość umiarkowana. Oleiste i aksamitne.

UPDATED: OCT 18, 2020 Barwa brunatna, piana niska, trwała. W aromacie czerwone owoce - wiśnie, porzeczki, nuty porto, lekki ocet, melasa, drewno. W smaku karmel, melanoidyny, śliwki, brązowy cukier, szlachetny alkohol, wanilia, dębina, suszone owoce. Bardziej słodkie, niż wytrawne, czuć taniny, ciało średnio-wysokie. Bardzo dobre.

UPDATED: AUG 3, 2020 Mon seul regret sur Don't tRYE This @home!! vieillie 300 jours en fut de cognac est que ma bouteille ait été altérée avec en conséquence une bière totalement sans effervescence. Sur un Barley Wine qui souvent ne présente pas une grosse effervescence, cela passe. Mais ce n'est tout de même pas exactement la même chose. Car à part cela, je ne peux que louer l'équilibre de ce Rye Wine et un vieillissement un fut de cognac maîtrisé donnant de la tension à la bière et de beaux arômes sans que le cognac ne soit agressif ou prédominant. Le visuel est sur un brun limpide totalement plat pour mon exemplaire donc. Très joli nez sur un cocktail des plus appréciables avec cognac, miel, date, prune, candy et une pointe de citron. On retrouve cette belle alliance dès l'attaque avec un équilibre splendide. Un sucre dûment dosé et un alcool à 11,1 % parfait, le tout sur une texture suave. Excellente présence en bouche de surcroît. Le final manque tout de même de longueur. L'ensemble, très élégant, se savoure gorgée après gorgée.

UPDATED: JUL 24, 2020 Pours deep red with a large, frothy light brown head. Nose is vinous, balsamic vinegar, yeast, oak and a little salt. Palate is moderate. Taste is spicy rye, oak aged cider, musty tannins, cognac. The cognac adds a nice sweetness to compliment the rye. There are some off-flavours but they are hiding in the background.
