Zlotta (7579) - Hagen, GERMANY - NOV 9, 2019
UPDATED: NOV 9, 2019 Sampled from 0.33 l bottle from 'Het Biermoment', bottled in November 2016, cellared for almost one-and-a-half years. Slightly hazy, deep ruby. Sweetish, malty, slightly fruity aroma of molasses, raisins, vanilla and a touch of rum. Quite sweet, malty, slightly fruity taste of molasses, caramel, raisins, vanilla and a touch of rum, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, gently warming and a little boozy finish. Full body, almost oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice, still fairly monotonous.

Almost clear reddish amber beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, slightly soft and mildly dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth malts, a good light creamy sweetness. Sweetish fruity rum. Peculiarly, not overtly rum. But paradoxically, a good fruity liqueur intensity. Smooth finish. Hard to figure but I don’t need to be fully cognisant of what is going on to thoroughly enjoy it!

Aroma: caramel, butter/diacetyl, red fruits, some cherries, almonds, hint of coconut and wood. Taste: high sweetness and medium bitterness. Notes of caramel, cherry, red fruits, bitter almond, wood, rum and butter. Palate: medium sweetness, sticky texture and soft carbonation. Reminds me a bit of La Trappe Oak Aged 25. Pretty good.
