Lupulus13 (392) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - MAR 2, 2019
UPDATED: MAR 2, 2019 Bottle from Wines and More. Orange slightly cloudy with thinner white head. Rich alcoholic aroma with some malty hops and orange. Lower carb. Quite light with decent coriander and citrus coming through. Very broadly like a decent hoppier ale

Tap. Goed maar geen verbluffend ale. Prima voor avondje kroeg. Zacht van smaak. Weinig aroma

Bottle @ Lemmy's. Pours a clear deep amber beer with a small white head on top. Aroma is herbal and spicy, fatty, juicy rye notes and a faint hint of smoke. Flavor is bitter and herbal, very weird and the rye takes the back in this one. The carbonation is fairly high and the aftertaste is also quite weird and herbal. Very bitter and harsh in the front. Weird.. very weird.

Svesse (12015) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - SEP 11, 2017
(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 27 July 2017) Reddish amber colour with creamy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of caramel, red fruit and candy sugar. Malty taste with caramel, dried fruit, crisp-bread and a gentle herbal bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Quite nice.

On tap at Jopen Proeflokaal. Hazy amber-brown colour, beige head. Aroma of caramel, blossom, light herbal, a bit sweet, sugar bread. Flavour is light to medium sweet, malty, hint of liquorice root, caramel, light floral, tobacco, hint of candy, soft bitter finish, light spicy and herbal. Light to medium bodied. Drinks easy, not too sweet.

sjogro (9247) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - JUN 15, 2017
From the bottle in train from Den Haag to Groningen, on my way to see The Courtneys at Vera. Sweet malts, lots of rye, some strong herbs and spices, something the like of cumin or anise seed. Light fruity, otherwise a lot of caramel or honey sweetened rye and some licorice. Moderate sweet and light bitter. Medium body, very slick malty feel. Soft carbonation but a bit of spike from the 6.5 abv. The label mentions the recipe as a ’lost beer’. It’s a nice beer to drink and imagine a romanticized past while sitting in the train FOREVER. I really like traditional ales and historic specialty grain beers when Jopen does them. It makes a lot of sense and they seem to have mastered it so well to bring ancient recipes to life in really fresh form. Clean crisp Jopen quality.
