DijkBier (2262) - AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS - JAN 4, 2022UPDATED: JAN 4, 2022 Sometimes you run into these brews that you already know for decades and drank often and never seem to have rated. Bottle from supermarket, pours deep dark brown with generous beige head; decent retention. Aroma is roast malts, caramel, dark fruit, raisin. Taste is over medium sweet, even brown or candy sugar. Full body, but feels less heavy than 11%. Typical Belgian quad; nice but bit too sugary for me.

DraftPupil66 (429) - - AUG 14, 2021UPDATED: SEP 10, 2021 33cl bottle i got from a local Auchan store, drinking it on 14/08/2021 BB 04-2026 Pours a nice deep dark brown with dense and creamy thin beige foam on top, great lacing. Strong aroma of belgian yeast, dark malt, licorice, dried fruits, caramel, candi sugar, very nice and promising. Taste is kind of high sweet but delicious, roasted dark malts, caramel and dried fruits, some vanilla, prunes a bit sugary but quite round and warm, creamy mouthfeel and a touch of dark chocolate and very mild hops bitter in the finish, mostly quite sweet though yet really enjoyable. Sweet and pleasant aftertaste with notes of dried fruit. Medium full bodied and dense, creamy slightly sticky texture, moderate carbonation, really high 11% abv that's hidden really well in the taste but overall, the only complaint i would make here is the high sugary sweetness, that's not really bad to have but perhaps is a little too evident here. Other than that, wonderful, warm and complex taste and lots of quality, really loving this one and looking forward to try more Kasteel. Also given the expire date guess i could try a more aged one to see if i like it better compared to this young one.

Taste is chocolate, dark malt, sweet caramel, mild dark chocolate bitterness, very mild hops. A quite sweet beer but in a nice way. Reminds me of a traditional dark Belgium beer like Chimay Blue/red but with slight sweetness.
