COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a classic, American-Style pale ale that displays all of the complex bitterness and aroma from the hops of the Yakima Valley in Washington State. By using a top-fermenting ale yeas strain we bring out the floral and herbal flavor profiles. A clean, malty body is developed from the pale and light caramel malt. ABV 5.4% Bitterness 35 IBU. Contract brewed for Costco by the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company under the brewer name Hopfen Und Malz (for the west coast market) and since mid 2009 by Matt Brewing as "New Yorker Brewing Co." (for the east coast market).

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2020 12 oz bottle purchased at the Costco in Kansas City, Missouri. Best consumed before 10/20/20. The pour is clear golden orange with a minimal white head. The aroma is faint citrus, melon and cereal grain. The taste is soft grass, orange peel, earth cereal grain finish. The palate is light bodied low carbonation and a hint of mineral with the grain finish. Not much to this one.

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2020 Kirkland APA has a well balance flavor. It’s less bitter than your regular IPA. It goes down smooth. Perfect for that Summer BBQ.

UPDATED: JAN 9, 2020 12oz bottle pours out golden amber topped with a white head. Nose is light pine citrus grass hops and some cereal malts. Taste is more of the nice light hop combo and a cereal malt.

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2019 Middle-of-the-road as it comes; notes of caramel, biscuit, and pine, wrapped up in a medium-bodied fee and a pretty pour. Not crap. Not craft. Kirkland!

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2019 Part of the crate from Costco in Sapporo. This one seems pretty standard. Grassy and pine hops support a bready caramel malt base. Disappointing head keeps escaping me. Keep cold drink quick. They’re ok and I’d not turn one down for sure...

Pours slightl hazy amber colour, topped with medium sized offwhite head, quite lasting. Very gentle nose, some milder biscuity notes and some very fsint fruitiness. Medium bittery with some milder malty sweetness. A bit medicinal finish and quite lasting aftertaste. Medium body. Not the best one.

Bottle. Pours golden orange with a white head. A little bit of a hoppy base, some flowery hops, mild bitterness, and a faint bit of toffee malty sweetness. Not bad.

Pours clear bronze, sea foam white head. Aroma of sweet biscuit malt, orange, a little tea, pine, kinda musty. Flavour has a dirty sweet malt biscuit landing heavily on the palate, citrus, pine, malt dominant throughout. Medium body, relatively light hopping for an APA, soapy finish. Not so great.
