Pours light golden with an orange. Aroma is pretty dead. Flavor though brings the smooth barleywine with some resemblance of hops remaining actually in there. Was expecting and hoping for that to happen, and rather enjoyed it.

Bottle split with Joe a few yrs back, pours clearish yellow with small to medium sized head. Aroma and flavor of floral hops, grapefruit, lemon, light malt, caramel. Good balance of malt on this one. Lightly warming in the belly. Nice brew.

Bottle purchased at Aficionado’s. Can’t believe I was able to find this one. Had it many years ago when it was released and loved it, but not expecting it to have held up, given the style. Clear amber pour with a medium off-white head. Aroma of malt, orange and sweet caramel. Malty and piney flavor with some grapefruit before a sweet caramel finish. Held up better than I thought, but you can tell it’s old.

Wish I drank this earlier. Nice orangey citrus notes and some chewy caramel. Hints of bitterness still apparent. Good stuff

brokensail (18691) - Bay Area, California, USA - JAN 23, 2012
Pours a clear golden orange color with a white head. Still surprisingly hoppy. Good citrus notes, mostly citrus peel, as well as some pine and floral hop aromas. A bit of sweet and bready malt. The flavor is moderately sweet, but some of that is sweet citrus hop flavor. A bit of orange peel and some pine bitterness. Light floral and grass flavors as well.

reebtogi (6488) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 9, 2011
650mL bomber poured a hazy golden color with modest white head and some nice lacing. Aroma of floral and grassy hops. Taste is nicely balanced between hoppy bitterness and the sweet malty body. A very nice IPA that I enjoyed having the opportunity to taste.

swoopjones (7018) - Buffalo, New York, USA - AUG 15, 2011
bottle, a bit old, copper colored pour. caramel malt driven aroma with some hop aroma. present. taste is sweet caramel maltiness, dulled down bitterness, due tio age of beer i’m sure. Flavor has diminished a bit, but im sure this was a solid beer in its prime

3.3
Koelschtrinker (28835) - Brewver-Town, GERMANY - JUN 11, 2011
Test vom 13.8.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,11,11,10,4,10 - 9,80

A- pours a delightful, very light copper color with a great white head that lingers for a while. Great lacing. S- beautiful hops immediately, almost reminds me of christmas. Clean hop aroma. T- Initial taste is almost fruity, very citrusy, very grapefruit. The hops are obviously present, and are balanced perfectly. M- hits the palate dead on, yet slightly confusing my tastebuds at first, but finishes very smooth. Leaves the mouth feeling a little dry, but very warming. D- If you love IIPAs, get this while you can, I was lucky to get a keg of it for my bar. Pint after pint it never gets old. Warning...this was an older review from one site to another.

Vikingbrew (193) - Colorado, USA - SEP 28, 2010
Sometimes cheaper bombers doesn’t mean subpar beer. That’s the case with this gem. I think I paid $3 for a bomber of this double IPA and it was very very good. A-Yellow clear pour with a 2+ head with a good retention S-citrus and floural hops. Fresh grass smell T-Fresh citrus and hops with a great lasting bitterness M-light and carbonated D-Very drinkable and a great all around IPA.
