I am sad they discontinued this beer. Everyone I introduced it to began to buy it as a regular beer. It needed more advertising. It is deceiving as it is a darker looking lager but tastes much lighter. There is some complexity to the flavors with small hints of nut and currants but is by far not over powering. You can certainly drink a few of these puppies. In Ontario, Canada there has been a rash of cheap buck a beer options. Most of these beers are not great but this one was one of the best for the price. BRING IT BACK! Please!

Bouteille de 341 ml achetée dans une LCBO de Cornwall. Dégustée le 21 août 2005 (pint). Bière brune foncée limpide. Mousse peu, col mince et éphémère. Peu effervescente, bulles moyennes. Odeur de petits fruits (berries). Douce, assez sucrée, amère en finale.

Originally rated June 2004. Dark red with brownish bubbly head (that lasted about 2 minutes... not bad). Nice mild aromas of chocolat and coffee, but this is nowhere near a stout. You can drink many of these without being full. In fact, you could only buy this beer in 24 packs, but it did not sell. Now, you can finally buy it in a 6 pack. Watery with hints of coffee and nuts, with a sweet smooth aftertaste. Very well priced and Lakeport’s best beer along with their Honey Lager.

341ml bottle sample. There was a time that I drank this quite regularly. Pours rather dark and cloudy, small head. Smells of malt, hops and nut. Tastes much the same as smell sweet roasted malt, nut and slight hops. Has a slight watery consistency, good though.

No surprise this one’s retired, I suppose. Had a bottle that had been sitting in a beer fridge for who-knows-how-long, but I doubt the date had any effect on the taste.
Pours dark with very little head...I wasn’t getting much out of the flavour, possibly due to the cold temperature, but at the same time, something about this beer made me scared to try it when it got much warmer. For a dark lager it’s okay, but I don’t know anyone who enjoys dark beer but is willing to skimp on it.

The after taste is sort of of malty and the colour is dark and sexy... But it still has that swishy foamy taste of a lager ... which is not my thing... Scottish ales are strong heavy meals in a glass... this a little watery . I guess I’m being judgmental because I really like Scotch ales. But, as lagers go this quite good.

well there is some malt in there......surprisingly. Aroma is still quite grainy, lots of corn mixed with slight caramel flavours.......this is odd. But drinkable, but not repeatable.

yarry (528) - Waterdown, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 15, 2007
341 ml bottle, 5% a/v Pour is very unusual for a macro, it has both colour and head go figure. Medium brown colour with a decent tan head. Nose is nutty, and chocolatey, taste is hops and malt, nothing extravagant, very thin mouthfeel, most dissapointing aspect of the beer.

not bad at all......a bit thin and watery but has enough bitterness in the finish to make it worth buying......probably the best lakeport product
